  • Motron Voltz and Whiz 45 km / h e-scooter
  • Availability of the models
  • Conclusion

Two scooters with a combustion engine in the 45 km / h class (50s), three electric scooters in the 45 km / h class, a miniature electric motorcycle – also throttled to 45 km / h as well as two 125 cc scooters, three 125 cc motorcycles and a retro bike with a displacement of around 400 cm³. Phew! There’s a lot going on in the portfolio of Motron, the new brand of the Austrian KSR Group. With this range of models, Motron caters to pretty much every taste in the two booming segments of the 50 and 125 class and also offers a 400. We will first dedicate ourselves to the L3e-A1 vehicle class, i.e. the 125 cc.

Motron X-Nord 125 – small travel enduro

The small travel enduro Motron X-Nord 125 leads the field as the largest – or at least as the highest. And probably also the most exotic in the 125cc class. Enduros can be found there, but travel enduros are rather nil. Sym has the NH T 125 on offer, but then it goes on in the direction of displacements around 300 cubic, for example with the BMW G 310 GS. Now that the 125cc motorcycle market is booming, especially because of the driver’s license regulation around the code number 196, this concept could be really worthwhile.

The Motron X-Nord 125 is optionally available as a touring version with a case set. According to the manufacturer, it generates around 13 HP of power at 9,500 rpm and 9.6 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm from its liquid-cooled 125 cm³ single cylinder. So it goes up to a maximum of 95 km / h, whereby she should be satisfied with 2.8 liters per 100 kilometers.

It rolls on tires measuring 100 / 80-17 at the front and 120 / 80-17 at the rear, while the front wheel rotates in a telescopic fork and at the rear on a swing arm with a central spring strut. The deceleration is done by a disc brake at the front and rear (265 disc at the front, 240 disc at the rear), shifting takes place through six gears, the final drive takes over a chain.

The Motron X-Nord 125 weighs 175 kilos ready to drive, the gross vehicle weight is 340 kilos and 14 liters fit into the tank. It is also 2,085 mm long, 830 mm wide and 1,285 mm high. The wheelbase is 1,375 mm and the ground clearance is 170 mm.

Motron Revolver 125 – the little cruiser

The model for the Motron Revolver 125 could be the very successful one Honda Rebel 500 his from the Honda now the brand new 1100 variant brings. Motron turns the tables and is oriented towards the lower end of the motorcycle displacement class. Performance data will be similar to the small Motron X-Nord travel enduro. This concept could also find a lot of fans.

Motron Warrior 400 – retro bike

The Motron Warrior 400 is the retro bike in the portfolio and the motorcycle with the largest displacement. Motron would like to bring motorcycle license applicants and re-entrants to the yellow page. KSR decided to go for the retro menu because it is still very popular with large and small bikes.

Motron Ideo 125 – classic 125cc scooter

The 125cc scooter Motron Ideo 125 is reminiscent of that Piaggio Vespa – true to the motto “As long as it is done in moderation, as a newcomer you can orientate yourself on the bestsellers.” It delivers 7 hp at 7,500 rpm and 7.7 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The top speed of the Ideo is reached at 80 km / h and it should allow itself 2.9 liters per 100 kilometers.

The technical data at a glance: automatic transmission, belt drive, front tires 110 / 70-12, rear tires 120 / 70-12, telescopic suspension fork, swing arm with a spring strut, hydraulic disc brake, one at the front (190 disc) and one at the rear (130 disc) , 5 liter fuel tank, 107 kg ready to drive, gross vehicle weight 267 kg. Dimensions: 1,880 mm long, 670 mm wide, 1,130 mm high; Wheelbase 1,300 mm, ground clearance 140 mm, seat height 780 mm.

Motron Ventura 125 – sporty 125cc scooter

The Ventura 125 not only rolls up with a sportier look, but also underlines this with other performance data: 10 hp at 8,000 rpm and 8.8 Nm at 6,500 rpm. In addition, a top speed of 90 km / h. Seven liters fit into its tank, and consumption should be 2.6 l / 100 km. Its front wheel also rotates between the bars of a telescopic suspension fork, its swing arm is equipped with two spring struts. The front is braked with a 260 mm disc and a 240 mm disc at the rear.

Dimensions and weights: 1,980 mm long, 685 mm wide, 1,150 mm high, 1,350 mm wheelbase, 810 mm seat height, 135 mm ground clearance, 120 kg weight ready to drive, 280 kg permissible total weight.

6 two-wheelers of vehicle class L1e-B

Motron Breezy 50 and Ideo 50

Both scooters have a displacement of 50 cc, 3 hp at 8,000 rpm and 2.6 Nm at 7,500 rpm, with a top speed of 45 km / h. They differ primarily visually: the Breezy 50 is the 50s in sports dress, the Ideo 50 – like the Ideo 125 – is based on the classic look that is reminiscent of the Vespa.

Motron Vizion – small electric motorcycle

The design template for the Motron Vizion with a top speed of 45 km / h could have been a Honda MSX. But as a 125cc engine it plays in a different class. The 1.85 kW (2.5 PS) Vizion is now testing the gap in small motorcycles – and has little competition. We don’t (yet) know whether there will also be a market for 45 km / h electric motorcycles. What is certain, however, is that drivers do not even have to upgrade their driver’s license for the Vizion. For short distances in the city, it could offer an alternative for those who want to switch to a motorized two-wheeler without additional driving lessons, but are not thinking of a scooter. The manufacturer specifies the range as 79 kilometers.

Motron Cubertino – E-Super Cub in class 50

The best-selling motorized two-wheeler in the world is the Honda Super Cub. And that seems to have been the model when the Motron Cubertino was designed. With a little imagination you could even see a cheeky wink in the direction of Honda in the name – the Japanese have not yet presented their Super Cub in an E version. The performance data will not be similar, because the Cubertino plays in the moped class that goes up to 45 km / h. It provides 1.5 kW (2 HP) and 32 Nm torque. The range should be 56 kilometers. Since it is a brushless DC motor, you will look in vain for the Super Cub-typical rocker switch.

Motron Voltz and Whiz 45 km / h e-scooter

Voltz and Whiz are each driven by a 2 kW (2.7 PS) electric motor, which provides over 40 Nm of torque. The Voltz should enable a range of 49 kilometers, the Whiz 46 kilometers.

Availability of the models

  • X-Nord 125, Whiz, Cubertino and Vizion from April 2021
  • Voltz, Breezy50, Ideo 50, Ideo 125, Ventura 125, Revolver 125 and Warrior 400 will be available in the 2nd quarter of 2021
  • The Nomad 125 is scheduled to roll out in the third quarter,
  • and an X-Nord 400 is planned for the 4th quarter.

Conclusion

The Austrian KSR Group is expanding its brand portfolio around Brixton, Malaguti, Lambretta and KSR Moto with the wholly-owned subsidiary Motron. Beginners, those switching and those who continue on should be addressed. That could work, because the 125cc class has been booming steadily since the new driver’s license regulation and the 50cc two-wheeler class is also enjoying unabated popularity.
