All Tests - Honda Vision Test: a scooter not that small? - Scooter Vision 110: improved basic

The new Honda Vision scooter, replacing the Lead 110, is currently arriving in Honda dealerships. Site tried it on the banks of the Marne to find out what this new small scooter made in China is worth… First try !

Scooter Vision 110: improved basic

Introduced in May (read), the new Honda Vision scooter is coming these days in. Although this small scooter manufactured in Honda’s Chinese factory in Guangzhou is primarily aimed at customers from emerging countries – emerged ?! -, Honda France develops several arguments to try to seduce French customers.

Because the French, after having timidly received the S-Wing, fell in love with its little brother PCX and could well reserve the same type of reception for the youngest of the family! "The 125 market in France is both declining and difficult to pin down", notes Christophe Decultot, CEO of Honda France who plans to deliver 1200 Vision over the next twelve months.

The selling points of this novelty 2011 – or 2012, there is no more season! – are numerous: compact, manoeuvrable and practical, comfortable for the driver and the passenger and – above all – affordable to purchase and economical on a daily basis.

Finally displayed at 1,890 euros, the Vision is indeed among the scooters over 50 cc – we dare not say "scooter 125" – the cheapest on the market. However, the NSC 110 Vision ("NSC" for New Standard Commuter) is far from being a discount scooter !

Admittedly, it takes the displacement of its predecessor Lead, that is to say 108 cc, and even relieves itself of the liquid cooling system of its ancestor. But it is this abandonment – in part – that allows him to flirt with the 100 kg bar all full facts: 102 kg exactly on the Honda scale against 114 kg for the old Lead, 124.4 for the PCX and 156 for the S-Wing !

Aesthetically, the Vision does not denote with the rest of the Honda production and the quality of finish is there: the plastics are correctly adjusted, the indicators well integrated into the fairing, the engine block carefully crafted and the new 14-inch wheels. give it a beautiful presence. Only the screws of the apron and the handlebar cover are really "cheap"…

Under the bright sun on the banks of the Marne, in the Paris region, the lines of the fairing stand out better on the gray color than on the white. The black version was not available during this "dynamic" presentation, but it is available in dealerships, unlike the red version that Honda France does not prefer to import, for fear of not selling stocks…

As on the old Lead, we note the presence of the CBS combined braking system: "the right lever operates the two outer pistons of the front disc caliper, while the left lever operates the central piston of the front brake by 220 mm at the same time as the rear drum of 130", Sebastien Pernel reminds us.

The Honda France press manager also tells us that the electronic injection of the Vision has been simplified by Honda’s Research and Development department, but again it is not a question of using archaic methods on this entry-level vehicle. . "On the NSC 110 Vision, the PGM FI system now only uses five sensors instead of the usual 7 or 8, because the engineers managed to combine their functions. This advanced version is expected to equip future Honda models, including larger displacement scootersFrom a technical point of view, then, the Vision’s air-cooled two-valve single-cylinder engine is not that old-fashioned..

However, why not have chosen an even simpler type of engine: the 2-stroke? "The 4-stroke cycle was essential philosophically, but also because it was the only one to guarantee efficiency and quiet operation", explains the manufacturer."By choosing air cooling, engine manufacturers have automatically overcome the weight and complexity constraints associated with the radiator and the water pump system". CQFD…

The cycle part is just as basic: tubular compact steel frame, small hydraulic telescopic fork and eccentric shock absorber mounted on the engine block. What more could you ask for to roam the city? Warnings, perhaps: they are absent on this scooter, however doomed to go up quite simply through urban traffic jams…

At the level of the commodos, we are also trapped at the beginning by reversing the horn (top) and turn signals (bottom). No problem, however, for the starter and the headlight control, housed in their usual place.

Still on the handlebars, the dashboard looks a little sad and we regret the absence of a partial trip, but the speed and the fuel gauge – be careful, its needle rises very slowly when starting the scooter – are perfectly readable.
