All Tests - Test Kawasaki Ninja 300: the right caliber? - In the mood of time

By upgrading its little Ninja from 250 to 300 cc, Kawasaki takes the opportunity to modify it in depth, both aesthetically and technically. Testing of the first new Kawasaki 2013 under the German sun !

In the mood of time

Between the soaring price of gasoline and the increasingly ubiquitous radars, this new Ninja 300 is on paper a more than consistent offer (read)… Yes, but here we are, we are in France !

A country where the legislation does not encourage interest in this type of displacement and where the biker ego only vibrates from 600, 750 cc – or even now 800 cc. At the same time, the French motorcyclist should be understood: besides the performance aspect, the small price difference between a 250 cc motorcycle and an average displacement does not really plead in favor of the "small cube".

In Kawasaki dealerships, for example, the Ninja 250R is displayed at € 4,999 while the acclaimed ER-6n asks "only" € 1,500 more to reach its garage! Under these conditions, it is not surprising that the French subsidiary has only sold 627 units of its two and a half since its release in 2008 (read in particular our)…

The best to get your hands on

And yet, these small-displacement motorcycles have a lot to offer. Due to their lightness and reasonable saddle height, they offer a very reassuring ease of driving for the less experienced or the small ones. It is not for nothing that 22% of buyers of Ninja 250 R are … buyers! Seasoned bikers will also find their value there because the 250 are agile and economical motorcycles in use, while remaining very playful. !

Even more than the Ninja 250R (see photo opposite), the new Ninja 300 imposes and cultivates its resemblance to its big sisters ZX-6 and ZX-10R … It is to be mistaken and there is it’s a safe bet that many will be fooled! The little Green also knowingly maintains the illusion by not displaying any mention of its displacement on its fairing: cunning, the Ninjette !

Its line is racy and aggressive. The front turn signals are now integrated and the dual-headlights are far more threatening than the previous ER-6 lights.

With this new Ninja 300, finished the few "low cost" aspects of its predecessor! The novelty is produced in Thailand, of course, but in the same factory as the ER-6n and f, the Versys 650 and the future Z 800: here is a guarantee of seriousness! Thus, my presentation is flattering and neat, apart from a few finishing details such as the scratch-sensitive rider footrest plates..
