The American motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson ended the crisis year 2019 with a sales decline of 4.3 percent.

In the annual balance of Americans, there were 218,273 motorcycles in worldwide sales in 2019. In the previous year Harley-Davidson 228,051 machines still sold worldwide. The decrease is 4.3 percent. Harley-Davidson weakened even more in the home market. In the USA 125,960 motorcycles were sold, which corresponds to a decrease of 5.2 percent. In Canada, the slump was even 7.7 percent. Only 8,946 motorcycles were sold here in 2019.
Growth only in Asia
Harley-Davidson also saw a downward trend on the European market. With 44,086 two-wheelers sold, the decrease was 5.4 percent. Sales in Latin America are 3.9 percent below 2018. The cult brand was only able to sell 9,768 motorcycles here. The only bright spot on the balance sheet is the Asia-Pacific economic region. With 29,513 bikes sold, there was an increase of 2.7 percent.

The Americans also had to accept losses in the areas of accessories (- 5.5 percent) and merchandising (- 1.8%). Total Harley-Davidson sales in 2019 fell 8 percent to approximately $ 4.6 billion. The profit shrank by 31.4 percent to around 290 million dollars.
