In this article:

  • Short tail conversion
  • New front for the 650s
  • More landing gear for the Enfield
  • Twin with more steam
  • Conclusion

Converting their own machine into a cafe racer is the dream of many garage owners. There are enough parts, but their combination in style and technology is sometimes acknowledged by frustration and banknotes smoldering in the fireplace. The mission of the customizers from Bad Winners is to connect both worlds: Do it yourself with ready-made conversion kits and different levels of difficulty and budget. For the Royal Enfield Continental G.T and Interceptor 650 four expansion levels are available.

Short tail conversion

For the rear conversion of a Royal Enfield from Bad Winners, however, the Flex has to run: The rear part of the rear frame has to be removed and then a new rear loop has to be inserted. This is done using a clip system without a welding device. The editors advise, however, to consult the trusted TuV inspector beforehand, because dran-flexen has not yet been invented. Furthermore, the kit for the rear includes a new bench seat, optionally in real leather, a new fender with lighting and a license plate holder. The whole thing costs 840 euros, or 936 euros if the butt is to sit enthroned on real leather. The delivery time for all conversion kits is a good eight weeks.

New front for the 650s

Bad Winners also offer a front conversion for the 650 Royal. For 1,540 euros, a complete LED lighting with matching brackets, a speedometer from Motogadget with bracket, a handlebar from Renthal with handlebar end mirror, as well as the conversion of the standard switches to mini buttons can be unpacked and installed. The use of heavy equipment at the Royal Enfield is not intended. When it comes to approval, the handlebars and mirrors should be checked for their registrability or ABE.

More landing gear for the Enfield

The standard chassis of the Royal Enfield is native to the soft side of the damping. Bad Winners has designed a configurable suspension kit for a little more toughness. A set of fork springs from YSS starts at 289 euros and ends at a total of 958 euros if the adjustable dampers from YSS are also attached to the swing arm. If you want it a little cheaper, you can choose conventional dampers from YSS for 219 euros or struts from Bitubo for 479 euros.

Twin with more steam

For a further 500 euros, Bad Winners is offering a performance kit for the 650 twin from India. With the help of the Power Commander, air filter and slip-on pots from Spark, some horses should trot more. If you don’t like the shape of the Spark pots, you can also use the kit with a 2-in-1 system from S&Order S for 615 euros.

Many are beautiful, but also impassable.

Better to leave it in its original condition.

Conclusion

Bad Winners got the deal. With a few conversions of inexpensive basic machines, little can be earned in the long run. Designing conversion kits for everyone, on the other hand, can be lucrative. The four kits for the 650 Royal Enfields seem well thought out and the prices seem fair. Attention: Designed in France, in Germany you should first ask the TuV whether the conversions are ultimately legal.
