Benelli has adjusted its two 500cc models, the Leoncino and Leoncino Trail, to the Euro 5 standard. There were also small visual changes.

the Benelli Leoncino 500 and the Leoncino 500 Trail are among the bestsellers in the program of the Italian motorcycle manufacturer under Chinese management. For the 2021 model year, there was therefore only the mandatory adjustment to the Euro 5. There was no need for any action on the design.

Euro 5 and more chassis

Friends of the in-line twin can breathe a sigh of relief: Adapted to Euro 5, the twin has retained its output of 48 hp and maximum torque of 46 Nm. The engine management system and the exhaust gas purification system, which now includes a secondary air system, have been modified. The primary gear ratio has been shortened slightly to allow the engine to start more spontaneously.

The Italians have also improved on the chassis. At the front there is a new 50 USD fork that can be adjusted in rebound and preload. The new fork can be recognized by its silver look. So far, black has dominated here. The modified rear shock is now equipped with a yellow spring and can also be adjusted in rebound and preload.

New graphics and some color

Benelli

The optics of the two models were only gently designed. The tank logo is no longer highlighted in black, the insert is now painted. The tank flanks now wear knee pads for this. The graphics on the side covers are also new. In addition, the handles for the pillion passenger have been redrawn. The redesigned seat offers more comfort and the lion on the front fender is now wrapped in black paint. While the Leoncino 500 will roll off the production line with Pirelli Angel GT tires in the future, the Trail will be fitted with Metzeler Tourance tires.

The Euro 5 models are available in red and black. In Italy, the price of both versions will remain unchanged for the new model year. Prices for the German market have not yet been announced.

Conclusion

Benelli maintains its two 500cc naked bikes for the 2021 model year only subtly. In addition to a Euro 5 adjustment, there are new spring elements as well as very slight design retouches.
