British twin in designer dress

The French luxury shoe manufacturer Berluti has redrawn a Triumph T120 and had it converted by a customizer. Now the one-off is being auctioned at Sotheby’s.

Timeless design, clear lines in combination with fine leather – that is the credo of designs by the French luxury shoe manufacturer Berluti, which its designers have now transferred to a Triumph Bonneville T120. Because Berluti makes shoes but does not convert motorcycles, this task was delegated to the French custom bike manufacturer Mecatwin from Montargis, around 40 km south of Paris. The finished Berluti motorcycle now comes with specially tailored shoes and a S.Special helmet sold at auction house Sotheby’s. The estimated price for the ensemble is between 30,000 and 50,000 euros.

Carbon monocoque meets leather seat upholstery

The Bonnie, redesigned by Berluti, has been completely redrawn except for the frame and the engine. The rear-wheel drive of the two-cylinder was converted to toothed belts. The two-cylinder can exhale through two new stainless steel megaphones. Bolted disc wheels were installed at the front and rear. The completely new tank seat line is created from a one-piece monocoque made of carbon fiber laminate and makes the Bonneville a single-seater. The rear footrests have been omitted. Only a tiny fender remained over the front wheel. The seat cushion made of the highest quality leather shows a diamond quilting. Leather of the same quality can also be found on the handles. In addition, almost all attachments were coated with black paint.

Attachments relevant for road traffic such as mirrors and license plates have simply been omitted. The taillight functions have been integrated into the rear indicators.

The auction will run until May 7, 2019. The Berluti three-pack is currently being offered for 24,000 euros.
