W.As can be seen from the registrations at the German Patent Office, the Bavarian motorcycle manufacturer registered the word-of-mouth rights for the brand names M 1000 RR, M 1000 XR and M 1300 GS in July. At the EICMA 2019 there was now an S 1000 RR with an M at the BMW stand

M models like the cars

Can be used all three for motorcycles, parts for motorcycles; Accessories for motorcycles and other items. The provisional protection period for these trademarks extends until mid-2029. BMW

In the automotive sector, M models have always been the best in their respective series. With an additional M in the model name, other sporty performance vehicles are ennobled. Why shouldn’t BMW adopt this tradition in its motorcycles too? For the S 1000 RR, BMW added M optional equipment and M Performance Parts to its range for the first time in 2019. More carbon parts and a further expanded electronics architecture would be conceivable for M models. In the case of the M 1300 GS, there could even be an increase in displacement, or simply an increase in performance that justifies the “1300”.
