Accessory exhausts for the BMW R 1200 GS
What are the advantages??

And not a few contemporaries automatically trust noisy pots to perform better.

A misjudgment, as the test bench runs show. In terms of performance, the very voluminous original exhaust is the measure of all things. With 13 candidates, the GS loses two to four horsepower at the top. Only the pots from AC Schnitzer and SR Racing that achieve the top performance of the series pots are competitive. Because the also quite voluminous SR Racing of the 1200s also brings a significant increase in torque in the much-used middle speed range, it emerges as the clear stage winner of the performance competition.

The result of the noise measurements is just as clear: While the BMW equipped with a brand-new original silencer for the test adheres exactly to the driving noise value specified in the vehicle documents, all retrofit pots exceed the reference value of the series exhaust – in some cases considerably.

There can therefore be no recommendation for any of the test subjects. A shame, because with their consistently good to excellent workmanship, the much more pleasing appearance, the mostly significantly lower weight and price as well as the great fit, the accessory pots collect a lot of points compared to the original part.
