On the models affected by the recall from the construction period May 2015 to December 2018, the brake pistons in the brake calipers can corrode. This corrosion can cause the pistons to rub in the caliper bore. If this condition remains undetected, this can lead to increased dragging of the brakes and, in the worst case, to an accident.

Brake calipers are replaced

Vehicles that are operated in damp, salty areas or in winter with the influence of road salt are particularly affected by this problem. Harley-Davidson currently associates four accidents and two injuries with this braking problem. All owners of affected machines will be contacted by Harley-Davidson and ordered to the dealers with their motorcycle. There, the braking systems on both wheels are examined and, if necessary, equipped with new brake calipers.

The street models are manufactured for different markets at different locations. The American market is served from US production, the rest of the world from Indian production. According to information from Harley-Davidson Germany, 853 vehicles in this country are affected by this recall.
