Brief review of the Honda FMX 650

The alarm clock

According to Honda Europe North, it is the most important motorcycle of the year. In the 34 hp version, the F.MX 650 get the so-called sleepers excited about bikes again. And there are enough of them. 7.8 million Germans have a motorcycle license, only 3.7 million of them a motorcycle. It shouldn’t be difficult for the hip Funduro to wake up some of the 4.1 million sleepers.
Because outwardly she is very pleasing, relies on Supermoto-
Design and good workmanship. Technical features such as aluminum handlebars, an exhaust system made entirely of stainless steel or an upside-down fork are also included. With the price of 5790 euros, the FMX is exactly 300 euros above that of the Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM. Both models take advantage of the increasing awareness and popularity of the supermoto. For ambitious drifting with victory-
opportunities are not really enough at FMX. Of the
The promised 38 hp at 5750 rpm gathered on the test bench 37 at 5700 rpm, but the Yamaha XT 660 X twelve, which are comparable in displacement, and the KTM 640 LC4 Supermoto even put 16 hp more on victory. How come?
The FMX engine is well known. It was presented in the Dominator in 1988 and since then has been permanently tightened due to compliance with the noise and pollutant limits. Fun and performance do not always have to be directly related, however. The FMX proves it. Starting at 2500 tours, there is around 40 Nm of torque, between 3800 and 5000 rpm the 650 has a good 50 Nm. That is easily enough to be part of everyday situations anytime and anywhere. The air-cooled single cylinder hangs spontaneously on the gas and accelerates the 176 kilogram bike to 140 km / h in 16.1 seconds. In order to reach the measured 152 km / h top speed, however, patience is required. This takes an infinite 22.5 seconds. The usable speed range extends from 2500 to 7000 rpm, at 7900 rpm the limiter takes effect.
With a consumption of 5.3 liters of regular petrol per 100 kilometers, the FMX is significantly higher than the economical injection engines from BMW or Yamaha, for example. How the FMX 650 fares in direct action comparison with supermoto bikes and whether it actually perks up tired men,
