Fans of the Italian brand Cagiva are allowed to cheer, at least a little, because Cagiva should return to the motorcycle stage as early as 2021. What ex-MV Agusta boss and Cagiva rights holder Giovanni Castiglioni was still dreaming of, Timur Sardarov now wants to realize as a major investor and boss at Cagiva mother MV Agusta.

First models at EICMA 2020?

While Cagiva models have recently been powered by Ducati V2 and Suzuki V2 engines, future models are to be equipped exclusively with electric motors. Sardarov sees the Cagiva brand in the area of urban mobility. But one will not build electric scooters, he now told Italian media. Cagiva will compete with small motorcycles in the power range up to 4 kW. Cagiva should start in 2020, but no later than 2021. It is conceivable that the first models will already be on display at EICMA 2020 in Milan.

In six to seven years, Sardarov could also imagine smaller motorcycles with internal combustion engines in the range of up to 350 cm³. The new MV Agusta engines, which the Italians are developing together with the Chinese Loncin Group, could be used here.
