The CF Moto V.02-NK Concept is a spectacular appetizer from China. The manufacturer CF Moto still has a lot to do in Europe, and slowly but surely, the brand name is not only known to absolute insiders of the motorcycle scene.

CF Moto recently moved into focus as KTM’s production partner in China. From 2020, KTM and the Chinese want to produce mid-range bikes with the new LC8c two-cylinder engine for the global market in China. The cooperation is also growing in other areas.

The highlight here is the study presented in China at the end of 2017 CF Moto V.02-NK Concept. The prototype appeared to be equipped with some high-quality components that did not come from China. The brakes come from the Italian manufacturer Brembo, for example, and the spring elements from Ohlins.

The Chinese borrowed the engine from KTM. Here CF Moto has secured the exclusive use of the 990 V2, which has already been sorted out at KTM. This will be increased to 1,080 cm3 and should fuel other models from CF Moto in addition to the series version of the V.02-NK Concept. In addition to the displacement, the performance should also increase. At KTM, the 990 developed up to 115 hp.

There is also a lot of Kiska in the design of the study.

Visually, a certain similarity to the KTM 790 Duke presented last cannot be denied. However, it is not a pure coincidence. A team of ex-Benelli and ex-Bimota designers is responsible for the design. The baseline is based on the classic Kiska design, which is also responsible for the lines of the CF Moto series bikes and also brings countless KTM models into shape. Pierluigi Marconi, who was already chief developer at Bimota and held the position of CEO at Benelli, was in charge of overall development.

The cooler under the seat of the CF Moto V.02-NK Concept is particularly noticeable. It is supplied with air that is routed from the front of the motorcycle to the rear. The extracted air is fed into the radiator through two ducts, which are mounted on both sides of the motorcycle and are made of carbon fibers. A similar system is already known from the Benelli Tornado.

Although this is only a concept study, CF Moto has already indicated that a similar bike will be produced as a series model in the near future. CF Moto models with the twin from the KTM 790 are also to follow.

The CF Moto 650 NK was the manufacturer’s first model that was also offered in Germany.

CF Moto is the largest Chinese exporter of quads to Germany. The company was founded in 1989 as a parts supplier. CF Moto has been manufacturing entire engines since 1996. The manufacturer has been building complete motorcycles for the Chinese market since 2000. The first model that was offered in Germany was the CF Moto 650 NK. A partnership between CF Moto and KTM has recently existed. Among other things, CF Moto is responsible for importing larger KTM models to China.

In MOTORRAD 20/2014, the CF Moto 650 NK had to compete against the Benelli BN 600 R, which was also built in China.
