Quick-Lock – or quick release – is without a doubt the easiest and fastest way to attach a tank bag to a motorcycle. In terms of payload and off-road capability, it is limited, but an absolute recommendation for the day tour. We have eight combinations of ring and bag exemplarily on ours Endurance test motorcycle Triumph Street Triple RS tested. Exemplary because the manufacturers offer model-specific rings. In addition, the steering angle and seating position on other motorcycles can be different and thus provide slightly different impressions in driving behavior. The system from Givi (IXS, Kappa) is used three times. SW-Motech not only competes with the brand new Pro-Ring, but indirectly through Vanucci also with the Evo-Ring. How they fare against the other three systems and what differences there were in bag handling, you will find out below.

Red lever for releasing a bit stiff, not expandable, few compartments, position cannot be selected, therefore viewing the mobile phone is difficult, the pocket is particularly noticeable on the arms and upper body when driving sportily.
Conclusion: With the new ST 605 B, Givi supplies a stable everyday companion, four screws and one click are sufficient for assembly. Since the position cannot be selected, it loses points, especially when it comes to driving behavior.

Only pins instead of a ring are not bulky, four selectable positions, so hardly noticeable when driving, main compartment easily accessible, easy to carry away from the motorcycle (handle and strap), good view of the smartphone.
Pins have to be hit exactly, otherwise the plate scratches the tank, only engages properly with weight and a lot of pressure, holds moderately, loading is difficult due to the curvature in the lid.

Conclusion
All bags serve their purpose. They transport a day’s stuff. And yet there were serious differences in the test. While with the somewhat water-shy test winner SW-Motech everything works smoothly and the ring clicks firmly into place, Shad, for example, with the pin solution is innovative, but a little less well thought-out. The Givi system was used three times, and with Kappa it comes in second place twice. Absolute price hit and thus our purchase tip is IXS.
