Custom bike from Jens vom Brauck

There was a need for action: The overstretched posture of the BMW R nineT Racer should be improved. Jens vom Brauck from JvB-moto did it. And radically changed the look in the process. Harmony meets spirit.

Too much racing attitude? BMW is building a beautiful, sporty derivative of the R nineT, the Racer. With a chic, sleek half-shell and cheeky seat hump in the style of the 70s. But overdo it with the almost lying sitting position: stretched deep over the long tank to the handlebars that are far forward. Maybe it fits the current BoxerCup. But creates suffering on country roads and in city traffic, for wrists and market opportunities. Who is tormented unnecessarily? Look far into the curves? Difficult.

Custom bike with improved ergonomics

Due to the overstretched sitting posture, you have to stretch your neck far up. Authentic or absurd for the 110 hp country road sweeper? “Simply unnecessary,” says Jens vom Brauck. The designer of JvB-moto presents his interpretation of a R nineT Racer: a custom bike with improved ergonomics! But first the paint catches the eye. “I like to experiment with colors,” explains the 48-year-old. “I think baby blue in contrast with gloomy black is simply awesome.” Lightweight carbon covers on the series bikes go well with this. They now look like heavy disc wheels, citing bikes for speed records.

Old school or retro look? Simply refreshing.

The carbon discs “are difficult and expensive to produce”. Jens ’credo:“ Achieve a lot of change, achieve a great effect with little effort. ”Jens converts motorcycles,“ so that they look more beautiful, are lighter and work better ”. The latter is served by significantly higher handlebar stubs on the new fork bridge, both from LSL. The effect is enormous, the driving posture relaxes dramatically. Now you’re sitting in a sporty, compact, perfectly integrated position. This is exactly the right dose of tension on the backbone, arms and thighs are almost parallel with a moderate knee angle. You can slide further forward on the filigree one-man hump with a slightly higher foam rubber seat. “This brings you closer to the handlebars, so you don’t sit in a hollow,” says Jens. It’s correct. You have the motorcycle much better under control, you drive with a better overview.

A well trained fighter

This attitude is reminiscent of sports bikes from the 80s. Old school or retro look? Simply refreshing. Now the wind pressure carries your upper body with you early on. You can roll through the city without sore wrists (g). Comfort and convenience? “Of course, if it serves the mobility. She is the A & O. “Relaxed quickly. The Arrows exhaust sounds evil on adapted manifold intermediate pipe, sounds rowdy despite approval. Well, the air-cooled pugilist punches hard, hands out neatly.

Steering precision and handling are pleasing – the lever arm of the higher half of the handlebar is larger. Only in narrow roundabouts does the BMW need a leading, gripping hand. You can feel the tight steering damper at creep speed. “The series intake snorkel made of brushed aluminum was optically too dominant for me,” says Jens. He built an angular, black “air duct”, the line of which continues in vom Brauck‘schen Hocker. “That looks more technical, more reduced.” The “Koti”, the minimalist front fender, has a different effect. Delicacy is in the details. The transformed BMW cladding only has a front with smaller LED headlights. Thick bellows in the style of “Dash 5” BMWs make the fork appear more massive. JvB-moto also offers them for Yamahas and Triumphs. Jens rounded off the valve covers of the boxer and blasted them: their acid-etched primer makes them look like historical magnesium parts.
