The manufacturer Curtiss should be well known to attentive readers of motorradonline.de. Curtiss was created in 2017 and was previously known as the Confederate. Since the manufacturer wants to specialize fully in the development of electric motorcycles in the future, it was decided to change the company name. The manufacturer was previously known for spectacular and gasoline-powered motorcycles.

Production start of the Zeus V8 as early as 2020?

After the first electric prototype was put on the wheels in 2018, another variant is now following. What is special about the recently presented prototype is the structure of the battery block, which is reminiscent of a V8 engine. During the development, the designers based themselves on the bike of Glenn H. Curtiss, who set a speed record with his V8 bike in 1907.

The battery block of the second prototype looks like a V8 engine.

This time, Curtiss relies on the P 400 R series from Yasa for the engine. A drive from Zero was used in the first prototype. The new engine is said to have a whopping 217 hp. The eight battery blocks provide a capacity of 16.8 kWh. The Zeus V8, which is said to be produced as early as next year, is expected to cost $ 75,000. In return, however, buyers get the finest components made of carbon, aluminum and titanium.

Curtiss had already put the first electric prototype on the wheels in 2018. At the time, Curtiss relied on two combined electric motors from Zero, which should work together to provide around 175 hp. According to the manufacturer, the maximum torque is 393 Newton meters. If you look at the first prototype from the front, it is somewhat reminiscent of bikes with a boxer engine due to the two protruding blocks in which the batteries are located. Curtiss has announced that it will also equip future models with battery blocks that are visually reminiscent of classic engine shapes. The V8 prototype shows that these are not just empty promises.

There are also plans to follow models that the manufacturer would like to equip with just one electric motor. Otherwise, Curtiss donated a lot of aluminum components and LED lighting to the prototype. The wheels, on the other hand, were made of carbon. Also unusual: there is space for an iPad in the dashboard.

Otherwise, some parallels to the already known Confederate models can be seen in the design. Compared to the recently presented special model Curtiss Warhawk (picture below), however, the Zeus looks a bit more peaceful. The series model should appear in 2020. It is not yet known whether the manufacturer will opt for a limited number again. If one looks at the procedure in the past, however, it can be assumed.
