Big bike feeling

Do you know this chocolate bar that is so fluffy and light that it also floats in milk? The same applies to the Honda Shadow …

Swing on it, feel good, drive off ?? no other credo fits the Shadow better. Why? Because it makes it so easy for us. At just 660 millimeters, your wide saddle hovers so slightly above the ground that you automatically pinch your buttocks when you drive over any 30 zone asphalt hump. That this mid-range cruiser weighs just over five hundredweight? you hardly believe it. With the new, driver-friendly curved handlebars, changing direction is as uncomplicated as changing the indicators in a car. Fittingly, there is a wonderfully bassy rumble from the new »Shotgun« exhaust system. Unbelievable, but these 750 cubic centimeters, declared as a B-movie, come across as a really big cinema. And all this with a power-to-weight ratio that makes every super sports driver burst into laughter: 46 hp push the 258 kilograms forward, exactly 5.6 kg / hp.

Anyway, with species-appropriate exercise that is always enough. The V2 hangs well on the gas and is satisfied with 4.3 liters on 100 kilometers of country road. The 750 conveys an honest, urban biker feeling. However, those who are spoiled for comfort are on the wrong boat. Bad bumps are passed hard on the back, the Shadow has lost little on country roads of the third category.
Despite its comparatively small displacement, the engine tends to prefer low and medium speeds. This means in numbers: 80 to 90 km / h on the country road. Then every kilometer feels like a day’s vacation. And if things get sticky: You can rely on the brakes. Although the front disc brake requires a courageous pull on the lever, and the rear has to be braked with the 180 drum brake, the result is quite satisfactory.
For 7460 euros the fan gets a full big bike feeling with very balanced, neutral handling properties and that wonderfully light feeling that the easy-to-drive machine is also swimming in milk if necessary.
