Volkschopper

With the VN 900 Custom Kawasaki secretly created a bestseller. After the popular ER-6 series, the 50-hp chopper has now taken second place in the list of the best-selling Kawasakis in Germany. And rightly so. Because for 7695 euros plus ancillary costs, the buyer receives a really lovingly designed fire chair that has everything that makes chopping so relaxing: a profoundly bubbling V2 engine, a narrow, 21-inch front wheel, a relaxed seating position that is far forward Footrests, a cool cranked handlebar and lots of chrome.

The ignition key finds its lock at the bottom left in front of the side cover, which, when fully fueled, balances a good 270 kilograms of iron from the side stand, and off you go. The gears shift robustly, the measured 49 hp V2 accelerates gently. The clutch and brake are easy to operate. Amazing: the transmission almost drowns out the engine with a loud howling. What has happened there? And something like that with a toothed belt drive that is quiet in and of itself? Sounds more like an old tram than a robust V-twin. Over time you get used to it. And is happy about the engine that pulls through in every situation. Atypical for a chopper, it has a wide speed range and can be turned up quite a bit without looking distressed. This saves one or the other switching process.

I like the chassis best. Thanks to the large and narrow front wheel, the VN 900 Custom steers itself very precisely, even through undulating curves. In addition, it is easy to handle, so that the machine is really recommended for beginners. A lot of suspension travel at the front and sufficient rear even result in atypical driving comfort. A great motorcycle at an honest price, with fuel injection and catalytic converter Euro 3 compatible. What more do you want?
