The new M-Class

The cruiser scene plagues young talent. The primeval thick ships are becoming ever larger and more expensive. In the beginner-friendly price segment, on the other hand, the Honda Shadow 750
and Kawasaki VN 800 Classic only offered outdated material. Any newcomer who wants to get a taste of the cruiser air may invest there?
Now it could be interesting again
will. The new Suzuki I.ntruder M 800 is as modern as yours
big sister M 1600. Style elements like
She copied from her elongated, chrome-plated lamp housing, elongated drop tank, deep seat with a docked, narrow seat roll for possible company, bobtail tail and long side pipes. Three-spoke wheels, a central spring strut and an upside-down fork should not be missing either. The M 800 looks very similar to the M 1600. And the price is acceptable: 7490 euros.
When it comes to drive, Suzuki relies on the tried and tested. The 53 hp, water-cooled V-twin cylinder has been reliably pushing the small Intruder series for years
and, thanks to the low-maintenance cardan drive, does not provoke dirty hands. However, the electronic ones are new
Gasoline injection and the regulated catalytic converter that ensure better emissions. The fuel consumption remains unchanged. As in the carburettor version, the cultivated running engine, which responds cleanly to gas commands, is satisfied with just over five liters of normal gasoline per hundred kilometers on country roads.
But it starts spontaneously at the push of a button without a choke. The pulling power of the twin is not enormous, but it is even and clearly noticeable over a wide speed range. The aisles lock easily, precisely and with short distances. The last, fifth gear step is enough from 50 km / h to accelerate smoothly.
Of course, driving fast is not the domain of the M 800. Neither the upright sitting position with arms and legs spread nor the motor, which generates annoying vibrations in the footrests from 120 km / h. However, it is amazing how successfully the tiny instrument panel keeps annoying turbulence away from the helmet.
The chassis likes his
appealing spring elements also favor. The M 800, which weighs more than five hundred pounds, is not particularly handy, but it does drive precisely through alternating curves. The same applies here: Hurry with a while. Research
Driving style acknowledges the Suzuki with annoying rocking movements. Nor are the brakes adjusted to this. They require bear strength and are difficult to dose. But they are definitely enough for enjoyable cruising. nk
