Model overview and current prices

With the Streetfighter V4, Ducati is launching a new power-naked bike in the 2020 model year. Some other models have also been modernized. An overview of all Ducatis offered in 2020 including the current prices.

Ralf Schneider

January 15, 2020

For 2020 has Ducati invested a lot of energy and money in expanding the V4 series and modernizing the athletes. After years of rapid, even hectic model changes in this segment, a change in the development strategy can also be observed: Evolution is in the foreground.

Streetfighter V4 with 208 hp

The Panigale V4 is getting a far-reaching chassis update that incorporates the experience with the V4 R in the Superbike World Championship. Apart from the supersport models, which should actually be called touring, the Panigale V2 will remain in the range as the only two-cylinder super sports car in the medium term. It has been significantly upgraded compared to the 959 Panigale.

With the new, 208 hp Streetfighter V4, Ducati is on par with the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 in terms of numerical values for the strong naked bikes, but will certainly gain greater market importance than this and the Aprilia Tuono V4 vehemently compete. Ducati has already announced more than 1,700 pre-orders for the Streetfighter, which will be delivered from March 2020.

Ducati Scrambler Sixty 2

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati Scrambler Sixty2.

The Sixty2 is the most affordable motorcycle in the Ducati model range. Compared to other motorcycles for the A2 driving license class, however, it is at least 1,200 euros more expensive. At second glance, its dignified workmanship and equipment speak for the Ducati, which is hardly inferior to the larger Scrambler models in this regard. The displacement of 399 cm³ is a concession to the Japanese market; maybe Europe will get a bigger engine as part of the Euro 5 homologation.

Ducati Monster 797

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati Monster 797.

At the beginning of 2019, the 797 was still available in two versions; the previous 797+ has been the standard model since summer. The pillion seat cover and the small windshield are also available in 2020 at no extra charge. In the comparison test, the somewhat restrained performance due to the long final ratio as well as the hard-tuned shock absorber and the large turning circle were noticeable negatively. Nevertheless, the conclusion was: “Monsters are not built to win comparison tests, but hearts.” The 797 can do that.

Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark / Icon / Full Throttle

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark.

As a new addition to the Scrambler family, the Icon Dark is in the foreground. With its matt black finish, round mirrors and brushed aluminum tank flanks, it is known as the entry into the Scrambler range. Technically, not much has changed since the model revision for 2019; it included, among other things, a new fork set-up and an ABS suitable for leaning. The motors of the 803 scrambler now all meet the Euro 5 standard with unchanged performance. Ergonomically designed switches are designed to make it easier to click through the display modes of the LCD instrument. The yellow or orange painted Icon is more conspicuous than the Icon Dark, while the Full Throttle plays with echoes of the dirt-track Yamahas of the young Kenny Roberts – even if the press release mentions Frankie Garcia as the godfather of this color variant. It also differs from the Icon variants by the twin-pipe rear silencer from Termignoni and the start number fields on the side covers.

Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer.

In its capacity as a street-sporting scrambler version, the Cafe Racer was fitted with 17-inch wheels at the front and rear. Which means that the front end is lower and the steering head is a radical 68.2 degrees steep. That is why the Cafe Racer reacts extremely sensitively even to small disturbances and wants to be guided with soulful hands. The starting number 54 pays homage to the former works driver Bruno Spaggiari, who raced a 350cc Ducati with this starting number in the Italian championship in 1968.

Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled.

The Desert Sled spoils – once you have climbed its high-mounted bench – with an excellent chassis. On the one hand, this applies to journeys on well-developed roads. “It’s so nimble around the corner, so easily can it be thrown from one stable side position into the next,” is the corresponding quote. Second and third, the chassis is also praised for moderate off-road use and on asphalt bumpy roads, where the long suspension travel of 200 millimeters at the front and rear ensures good comfort. The engine offers more than 50 Nm of torque over a wide range, but requires high speeds if you want to move forward quickly. According to the test bench, there is only 1,100 rpm between maximum torque and peak power, which is the metrological reason for this driving impression. And no matter how rough the terrain is on which you move with the Desert Sled, the speed should be at 3,000 rpm or higher, otherwise the engine will run hackneyed. So it is better not to use it as a trial motorcycle.

Ducati Monster 821 / Stealth

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati Monster 821.

It will remain so in the 2020 season with the 821, although the more powerful 937 has long since been created on the basis of this engine and has developed into Ducati’s all-purpose weapon in the mid-range. There is nothing wrong with the 821 in and of itself, but the direct competition from KTM has upgraded vigorously, and the three- and four-cylinder from Japan and England are more powerful anyway. So it happened that the 821 lagged behind a little in the big comparison test in terms of driving performance, especially since the problem of the clutch was a problem for the test motorcycle – not to mention the drivers. The 821 was also at the bottom of the chassis ranking. The testers liked the snappy brakes and the comprehensive electronics package very much. The only difference between the Stealth and the 821 in Ducati red is the windshield and the lavish dark paintwork with silver and red accents. Beware: despite its promising name, it can very well be caught by speed traps.

Ducati Hypermotard 950 / SP

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati

Ducati Hypermotard 950.

The top testers could not explain exactly why the 950 Hypermotard shines with never-before-seen chassis qualities. In any case, it has given up the nervous steering of its predecessors without losing any of its handiness. Subtle changes to the chassis geometry and the more favorable ergonomics are probably the reasons for this. Better contact with the motorcycle and more freedom of movement sometimes work small miracles. Tester Johannes Muller sums up the qualities of the engine in the sentence: “Seldom has 111 HP generated more endorphins.” It should be added that the 111 HP is the measured output. The extensive electronics package of the Hyper can be accessed comparatively easily via the TFT display, which only reflects a little and therefore also shows smaller symbols in a clearly visible manner. With Ohlins suspension elements and longer suspension travel, the SP version was a lot more expensive and long-legged than the standard Hyper. The chassis quality remains unchanged.

Ducati Supersport / S

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati Supersport S.

It should actually be called touring. The Supersport S made that very clear during the intensive test in MOTORRAD 20/2019. The character of the real super athletes, which is very specifically designed for racetrack driving, is completely absent. It also in no way corresponds to the common prejudice against Italian motorcycles, not to worry about comfort and everyday matters. The handlebars are at a comfortable height so that the driver can sit comfortably, enjoy a good view, but still bring enough weight to the front with brisk curve dancing on the country road – even on a trip to the racetrack. Up to around 8,000 rpm, the 937 Testastretta pushes more torque than the 955 of the Panigale V2. Quite a few connoisseurs of supersport swear stone and leg that it offers a much higher experience value than the 110 hp would suggest, and that it uses less fuel than feared. The very attractive combination of reason and fascination does not come cheap, however.

Ducati Multistrada 950 / S

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati Multistrada 950.

Ducati already upgraded and modernized the two 950 Multistrada for the 2019 season. Because quite a few examples of the Testastretta 937 initially had to struggle with a chatter clutch instead of a slip clutch, it was given a hydraulically operated unit in the wake of the Hypermotard 950. The range of electronic driving aids has been refined; It includes ABS suitable for leaning, four driving modes and a hill start assistant. The S variant also offers a shift assistant for upshifting and downshifting without a clutch and a cruise control. The comfort equipment is completed by the semi-active damping adjustment of the spring elements.

Ducati Panigale V2

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati

Ducati Panigale V2.

New name, new chassis, 5 HP more power despite Euro 5 homologation – and that’s not all. Ducati went to great lengths to update the “small” Panigale. It was given a single-sided swing arm that was previously reserved for the 1299 Panigale, which was no longer in production, and the engine benefited from the optimized injection system and a new exhaust system with only one short rear silencer instead of the two large pots of the predecessor. This is the only way that the single-sided swing arm enables the rear wheel to be removed and installed quickly. In addition to the large, easy-to-read TFT display, the new electronics package also includes ABS suitable for sloping positions and a shift assistant with blipper function. A more comfortable bench should bring more comfort. Compared to the previous model, the new seat looks narrower in the front area and is slightly more padded. The price increases by 1,200 euros, but the Panigale V2 still remains below the 20,000 euros limit. There will be no Corse version until further notice.

Ducati Panigale V4 R

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati Panigale V4 R.

Ducati’s base motorcycle for the Superbike World Championship, the 998 Panigale V4 R, came onto the market much later than the V4 and V4 S. It therefore not only represents an extremely expensive one, built with milled cylinder heads and the finest components and consistently trimmed for use on the racetrack Motorcycle, but also a first refinement of the V4 range. The higher cladding dome, the front wings, but above all the somewhat more flexible frame, now also benefit the 1103 V4 models.

Ducati Scrambler 1100 / Special / Sport

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati Scrambler 1100.

The 1100 Sport won the comparison test against two other fat scramblers from BMW and Indian – “despite the performance disadvantage”, as colleague Rene Correra wrote. Despite the “disadvantages”, the 1079 delivered 1 HP more than stated on the test bench, so we’re talking about an honest and moreover economical engine. The ergonomics and handiness of the Scrambler Sport impressed the testers, as did the well-coordinated Ohlins spring elements, which respond noticeably more finely than those of the standard model.

Ducati Streetfighter V4 / S

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati

Ducati Streetfighter V4.

Presumably the strong Naked Aprilia Tuono V4 and MV Brutale 1000 in Bologna were perceived as permanent provocation. But now the engine of the Panigale V4 offers the suitable basis to catch up with the MV and counter the thunder from Noale with superior cavalry. 175 Aprilia to 208 Ducati HP is henceforth the balance of power. Because the front wheel load is lower on bare motorcycles than on super athletes and the aerodynamic lift at the front is a critical issue, the Streetfighter got two double-decker wings on each side. They should generate 275 Newtons of downforce at 270 km / h. When accelerating, the electronics ensure that the Streetfighter does not throw the driver backwards. Of course, she has everything on board in terms of electronic driving aids that has been diligently developed for years: lean ABS, traction control, shift assistant, to name just the most important. According to the tried and tested model, the S received semi-active Ohlins suspension elements and lighter wheels.

Ducati Panigale V4 / S / 25 Anniversario 916

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati Panigale V4.

When revising the Panigale V4, Ducati took on the points that earned it criticism in the comparison test in MOTORRAD 10/2019. On the racetrack, she lost time at the entrance and in the middle of the corners, and when accelerating she sometimes became violently agitated. Of the measures to remedy the situation, the wings adopted from the V4 R are probably not the most important. More like the more flexible frame of the V4 R, which is now also used with small changes in the V4 and V4 S, the high center of gravity and the higher rear. Both the Showa fork and the Sachs suspension strut of the Standard and the semi-active Ohlins suspension elements of the S have softer springs. In addition, the engineers have changed the electronic throttle valve control and thus the response behavior of the engine in the various modes. The trend is in the less aggressive direction. A test must clarify the effects of the diligent detailed work. Either way, it’s a clear indication of how serious the developers are.

Ducati Monster 1200 / S

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati Monster 1200.

For the 2017 season, Ducati has trimmed the Monster’s chassis for agility. The wheelbase remains quite long, but the steering head is steep and the caster is less than 90 millimeters. In the comparison test of the 1200 S against the BMW R 1250 R, the testers only had to synchronize the work of the Ohlins spring elements, i.e. go to the upper end of the adjustment range at the front and the lower end to the rear, in order to obtain a fascinating curve sweeper. The victory in the chassis chapter was assured for her. In this respect, the standard variant lagged behind its more expensive sister. Above all, the stuckily appealing hindquarters brought her criticism. The engines, on the other hand, are tied. Both 1200 monsters are driven forward vehemently by the identical, very sporty 1198 Testastretta. Speeds below and around 3,000 / min are still not his preferred range, above 4,000 / min it gets heavy, but also more sophisticated. The R version with an even more powerful engine is no longer in the program.

Ducati Multistrada 1260 / S / S D-Air / S Grand Tour / Pikes Peak

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati Multistrada 1260 S Grand Tour.

The newest member of the Multistrada is called the S Grand Tour. This is a variant of the S with suitcases, special paintwork and seat, heated grips, additional headlights, main stand and tire pressure sensors. The tank cap, which pops open at the push of a button, is not used to refill fuel while driving. All S variants retain the semi-active chassis and, as usual, the D-Air electronics are configured for communication with the Dainese airbag vests. The fact that the various Multistrada are all suitable for touring, but by no means suitable for a strolling pace, is due to the 1262 Testastretta with variable inlet timing. Although it offers a stronger middle than its 1200 predecessor, it is rather listless and hacking in the lower speed range. At Ducati, people also travel in a sporty way. This is especially true for the Pikes Peak with conventional Ohlins suspension elements.

Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro.

Oh look, it works. In the comparison test of travel enduros in spring 2019, Ducati’s mighty Enduro reached 3rd place with victories in the categories of everyday life and safety. This would probably not have been possible before the revision for the 2019 season, but a longer wheelbase, more caster and shorter spring travel have made the Multi both more comfortable and more precise. The electronic driving aids, the brakes and the quality of the equipment were also well received and earned many points. The praise for the “feeling of security” on the Multistrada Enduro is very nice – especially important on lonely long-distance trips or in bad weather. The same applies to the engine as to the other Multistrada models: In its origins, it drove fast super sports cars on the racetrack, and despite the longer stroke, variable intake timing and double ignition, this ancestry can still be seen today. Its temperament is almost too fiery for use on long journeys and bad roads.

Ducati Diavel 1260 / S

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati Diavel 1260.

“Don’t call her cruiser.” This request, with which Ducati accompanied the appearance of the first Diavel in 2011, raises a question: How else? Well, that has not yet been fully clarified, and that is precisely the attraction of this exciting and active driving mix. The Diavel does not sit clumsily in the gap between cruiser and naked bike, but accelerates vehemently through it, past both. It’s too strong and too light for a cruiser, too long and too casual for a naked bike, the steering head is still much flatter, the seat is lower. Like the big Multistrada and the XDiavel, it got the largest-capacity Testastretta – not V2 – of the Ducati range in 2019. But while some Multistrada riders would like a quieter characteristic, its explosive power delivery goes perfectly with the Diavel, which belies its nonchalance as soon as the rider opens the throttle valve. For 2,900 euros more, the S offers a shift assistant with blipper, Ohlins spring mechanism and Brembo M50 monoblocs.

Ducati XDiavel / S

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati XDiavel S.

Here the assignment is clear – the XDiavel is aimed precisely at power cruisers from the USA. Anyone who underestimates their “small” engine against the backdrop of the American displacement gigantomania will quickly be taught better. 10.5 seconds from 0 to 200 km / h, and that in the standard trim, want to be surpassed first. And the driving dynamics of the two XDiavel are not only striking on the straight; they can also curve. The XDiavel S is characterized by milled cast wheel spokes and carbon-coated forks.

Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition

Ducati in the 2020 model year - all models and prices

Ducati.

Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition.

It no longer appears in the price list for the 2020 season, but whoever orders one will get it. With the introduction of the Euro 5 standard in 2021, the Final Edition should definitely see its final. Inside, the big V2 only has the best, namely titanium connecting rods and valves as well as CNC-milled cylinder heads. The other components, including the exquisite electronics, are in no way inferior to this effort. The question that remains to be answered is whether you drive it or put it away as a collector’s item.

Conclusion

The most exciting new model from Ducati is without a doubt the long-awaited Ducati Streetfighter V4. With a whopping 208 hp, it is, together with the competition from MV Agusta, one of the most powerfully motorized naked bikes on the market. In addition, some Supersport models have been modernized. But one thing remains the same: In terms of price, the Ducatis remain in the upper high-end segment.
