Since 2020, motorcycles are no longer allowed to take part in the legendary hill climb. Ducati still wants to bring a Pikes Peak Edition of the Multistrada V4 for 2021. And it will probably get a few technical features of its own.

In 2018 Ducati took the title at Pikes Peak – with the Multistrada 1260. Carlin Dunne won with a time of 9: 59.102 minutes. Already in 2012 he set the record in the class on a Multistrada 1200 with 9: 52.819 minutes “Heavyweight motorcycle” drive in. In 2019 the American competed on a Streetfighter V4 – and had a fatal accident on this mission. Since Motorbikes are no longer allowed to start the legendary hill climb.

Ducati is continuing the tradition and is also bringing the new Multistrada V4 in a Pikes Peak Edition. The special model has not yet been presented, but a certification document from the US environmental protection agency shows that the Multi V4 will be available in a Pikes Peak version and that it will roll out with the unchanged V4.

Even if the V4 is taken over, the Pikes Peak seems to get very special technical upgrades. A prototype of the Multistrada V4 has now been caught by Italian observers. In addition, the prototype showed a further reinforced brake system on the front wheel – which stands for both Streetfighter V4 ready as a donor. In sum, it seems Ducati to adapt the possible Pikes Peak to even more driving dynamics for the road.

Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak for an estimated 25,000 euros

The V4 develops 170 hp at 10,500 rpm and provides 125 Nm of maximum torque at 8,750 rpm. 1,158 cc displacement, without desomic disorder, but with valve clearance control intervals of 60,000 kilometers. The basic version weighs in at 243 kilograms when empty. Prices start at 17,990 euros for the standard version, the V4 S costs from 20,990 euros, the V4 S Sport from 22,740 euros. Since the Pikes Peak Edition of the 1260 Multi was 4,600 euros above the price of the S version and the price rose by 1,000 euros in the 2021 model year, we estimate that the Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak Edition will cost around 25,000 euros.
