Electric shock in the Black Forest

On Saturday, September 26, 2020, the Black Forest community Schonau will be energized. Electric motorcycle riders start from here for the first time “Electric Ride Schonau in the Black Forest”.

The exit is supported by the electricity works Schonau (EWS), which was once nationwide as “River rebels” became known. The meeting point for the E-Ride rally is the Holzer Kreuz car park south of Schonau. From here it goes on a distance of 80 to 100 kilometers. Several stops along the way serve to facilitate professional exchange: with each other, but also with residents affected by motorcycle noise on popular routes. The last stage destination of the Electric Ride is the EWS headquarters in Schonau.

The electricity works go back to a citizens’ initiative that was founded in 1986 after the Chernobyl reactor disaster. The alliance of the “Electricity rebels”, when in 1991 the entire power supply for the community of Schonau was taken over and thus abandoned from the supply of large electricity companies. As part of the trip, they now want to jointly identify possible solutions for various transport and environmental issues and put them up for discussion.

Noise is an issue

In the southern Black Forest, the issue of motorcycle noise is also increasingly on the agenda. With this quiet motorcycle tour, the aim is to point out that commitment to the environment and consideration for others can be meaningfully combined with enjoying one’s own hobby. The EWS provide green charging power after the tour.
