Most expensive sports motorcycles of all time

Superleggera, HP4 Race, Tamburini & Co.

Many want it, but few get it. We are talking about noble sports motorcycles like the BMW HP4 Race or the Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera, which are only sold in limited numbers and very expensive. We’ll show you some of the most expensive bikes ever.

In 1991 it was the Honda NR 750, in 2001 the Munch Mammut, in 2006 the MV Agusta F4 100 CC and this year it has D.ucati with the Panigale V4 Superleggera another spectacular motorcycle with the predicate "especially valuable" presented. But what exactly do these motorcycles have in common? The answer is simple: you remain a dream for many motorcyclists. There are exactly two reasons for this: They are too expensive. And they are too rare. And yet they ensure enthusiasm and shining eyes. Below we show some of the most expensive motorcycles available in series. In our picture gallery we have also listed other bikes, some of which were only available as single pieces.

Honda RC 213 V-S (188,000 euros)

Honda.

Honda RC 213 V-S.

From MotoGP to the road – this or something similar could have been the motto for the development of the Honda RC 213 V-S. It goes without saying that such noble technology has its price. Honda wanted a whopping 188,000 euros in 2015 for the RC 213 V-S. Since the bike was only sold with an additional sports kit in Germany, which cost an additional 12,000 euros, the price rose to 200,000 euros. In return, however, buyers also receive a very light and powerful motorcycle that would like to transport the driving experience from MotoGP to a production bike.

Ducati.

Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera.

What the RC 213 V-S is to Honda, the Panigale Superleggera V4 is to Ducati. Similar to the Honda Superbike, the Superleggera V4 is also a hyper-sporty motorcycle, which is equipped with components that are also used in MotoGP. The Superleggera V4 is significantly cheaper than the Honda bike at 100,000 euros, but from "Cheap" can of course still be out of the question. The model is limited to 500 copies. The Ducati should weigh up to 234 hp with a dry weight of 159 kilograms. This means that you can work safely on the racetrack.

Munch Mammut 2000.

What happens when a dream becomes reality, is what editor Johannes Muller describes in the driving report for the Munch Mammut 2000. Jay Miller, as he is also known among colleagues, had the opportunity in 2016 to drive one of the most popular models among motorcyclists. A whopping 176,000 marks, the equivalent of around 89,000 euros, had to change hands when it was launched in order to be able to call a copy from Munch his own. Originally 250 copies of the Munch Mammut were to be created. But nothing came of it. Only 15 copies saw the light of day.

Ducati Desmosedici RR.

Similar to the Superleggera V4 presented above, the Desmosedici RR also impresses with its very noble components derived from motorsport. When the MotoGP replica saw the light of day in 2007, there was probably no other motorcycle at the time that was so close to the premier class of motorcycle racing. But the price tag was tough: Ducati asked for 61,500 euros for its 2007 Supersport grenade.

Harley-Davidson VR 1000.

I beg your pardon? A Harley-Davidson super sports car? Sounds unimaginable, but that’s exactly what the Americans put on their bikes at the end of the 1980s in order to dedicate themselves to racing in the 1990s. A total of 53 copies were made, which at the time were initially available for $ 49,000 and then for $ 34,000. Converted, this would correspond to just under 45,000 euros as of April 2020.

In the picture gallery attached above, we show a few more dream motorcycles that are limited to a small number and cost a small fortune. This includes models like the Aprilia RSV4-R, for example "Factory Works", the Bimota DB8 Oronero or the Yamaha YZF-R7. Incidentally, there are even more expensive motorcycles, such as the Dodge Tomahawk V10 (550,000 US dollars), which are mostly one-offs and which we have not considered here.
