The technical changes in the endurance world championship have serious consequences.

Since 2018, only special fuel caps based on the Staubli system (or similar) have been allowed in the FIM Endurance World Championship. This is now drawing in circles: If you look at the entry list for the Germany run at the 8 Hours of Oschersleben, the German Speedweek, the otherwise so numerous wildcard teams are missing. The most prominent long-distance European champions from Aprilia Grebenstein are those who have stayed away from the race.

Missing information leads to withdrawal

“Since last December we have been trying to get an answer as to whether we are allowed to drive with our old tank system”, says Karsten Grebenstein. “We spoke to Ottmar Bange and asked those responsible for Eurosport events and the FIM – but received no reliable and clear information. Therefore we will unfortunately be absent from Oschersleben this year. “

For the Germany run, the team would have had to completely convert the tanks and the tank system. “Since the secured information was dragged out, it was no longer possible,” adds Grebenstein.

In the meantime, ARLOWS Racing is the only wildcard team registered, which will compete with Sascha Schoder, Matle Bigge and Maximilian Weihe on a Suzuki GSX-R1000.
