In 2103 the Guareschi brothers finally took over the workshop from their late father. They have been offering frame kits for modern Guzzi drives since 2019.

148 years of Moto Guzzi. In total. Guzzi will be 100 this year and Guareschi Moto will be 48 years old in 2021. 48 years in the service of the Mandellian eagle. Congratulation. During this time, Guareschi is not only a Moto Guzzi dealer, but also always on the lookout for dynamism, performance and tenths on the racetrack. The sons of the founder Claudio have been running the company since 2013. Gianfranco and Vittoriano build in the spirit of the deceased father and in celebration of Moto Guzzi a Le Mans I..

Old Guzzi engine

But structure doesn’t really hit it. In fact, the brothers take the engine of a 1976 Le Mans I., overhaul it thoroughly and implant high-performance parts here and there: With new forged pistons on connecting rods from Carillo and matching cylinders with 90 millimeters bore, the twin with a 78 millimeter stroke reaches exactly 992 cubic meters. It has a good 147 more than the original. This is joined by a sharp camshaft, which is driven by a lightened and finely balanced crankshaft. It passes on its unnamed power via a now just toothed, briefly translated gearbox to the alleged CARC cardan. A spoked rim rotates on this, which is not unlike a Bellagio in shape and color. This magnificent drive is ventilated by classic Dell’Orto carburetors with a diameter of 40 millimeters. What then happens in the combustion chamber can be guessed at from two half-height Zard dampers at the rear.

Frame kit from one hand

The Guareschi brothers have been offering a special frame kit for modern Guzzi drives since 2019. The bridge frame on tubular steel integrates the engine in a load-bearing manner and saves a good seven kilos in weight with modern engines. This is statically not possible with the old Twin, so the Varano frame by Guareschi has been extended downwards to include the original swing arm bearing. The cardan swing arm is supported by an Ohlins TTX shock absorber on the frame. An FGRT-USD fork from Ohlins works in the new steering head. A mix of Brembo parts and CNC-machined radially bolted calipers keep the performance in check.

Aluminum art in perfection

On the adapted frame, the brothers nail a large, angular tank made of aluminum, to which a rear section made of the same material is attached. The Guareschis form a fine holder for the finely ribbed LED headlights from aluminum tubes. And best of all: The Classic 992 is not even finished yet. The upper triple clamp and the cockpit are still completely missing and the aluminum still needs a lot of filler, filler and paint, the electrics are also on the to-do list. But if a half-finished motorcycle triggers such joy, what happens when the Classic 992 is finished? We’ll see it at the Guzzi Days in autumn – may they happen.

Many are beautiful, but also impassable.

Better to leave it in its original condition.

Conclusion

Great. Half-finished bikes for an event that may not even exist and yet everyone is absolutely thrilled. The Classic 992 from Guareschi is still under construction and the view of the finished piece makes you slip nervously on the chair. That only happens when Italian motorcycles are involved.
