After the first electric motorcycle called LiveWire was implemented and new models that do not belong to the cruiser segment were announced, another model for beginners is now following. The new entry-level bike is being built in China in collaboration with Qianjiang Motorcycle. In the US it was Harley-Davidson for his China plans strongly criticized by US President Donald Trump.

The focus is on the Asian market

The so-called Harley-Davidson 338R should enter the Chinese market in 2020. The presentation in China was originally scheduled for June 2020. The corona pandemic also caused delays here. Now, however, new pictures for the design patent application as well as a first picture of the finished motorcycle have appeared. We have already presented images of a design patent application beforehand. They showed the two-cylinder bike in the version of Qianjiang Motorcycle, which, except for a few details, corresponds to the Harley version. If you examine the pictures very carefully, you will even discover the Harley-Davidson Motor Company lettering cast into the patent pictures on the left engine housing cover. Harley-Davidson has already published its own drawings for the new entry-level bike, which indicate what the Harley version might look like.

In a further version, the small Harley will also be offered as a Benelli, because Qianjiang Motorcycle is the parent company of the Italian brand. The displacement of the liquid-cooled parallel twin seems to have grown from 338 to 353 cm³. Almost 37 hp are mentioned as power, which is served with the Euro 5 standard.

Whether the little Harley-Davidson will even make it into series production is currently uncertain, because the new Harley boss Jochen Zeitz has announced that the brand’s future model timetable will be significantly reduced. We expect the market launch of the QJ350 for China shortly, and the Benelli 350 version for Europe should also come soon.
