Cooperation between Dunlop and Harley-Davidson
10 million tires in over 30 years
Dunlop celebrates the delivery of the 10 millionth original equipment tire to Harley-Davidson.

Dunlop’s development engineers have been working closely with us for over 30 years Harley-Davidson together; The approval of the Dunlop GT502 for the Harley-Davidson XL 1200 CX Roadster is the latest result of this cooperation. The tire is designed as a radial tire to minimize dynamic tire growth and, moreover, to be perfect “with the sporty chassis and the optimized braking system of the bike” harmonize.
In 1981 Dunlop tires were approved for the Harley-Davidson Sportster. Two years later it was Dunlop the sole tire supplier for the FL series. Since then, Dunlop has repeatedly developed specific tires for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and also launched models such as the American Elite for the aftermarket, whose high mileage, according to Dunlop “become the favorite of Harley-Davidson riders” let and “predestined as the ideal choice for long-distance tours”.
Technically, these properties are made possible by Multi-Tread technology with a more resistant rubber compound in the
Center of the tread and a softer rubber compound for the flanks, explains Dunlop. This should optimize handling and grip in an inclined position.
