The 88 model

Harley-Davidson went back to the origins of the new models in 1988. Forwards by stepping backwards – also with the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Sport? We fished the most beautiful pictures of the classic from the slide archive.

It was and is still today a symbol, figurehead and for many the epitome of a Harley-Davidson par excellence: the Electra Glide. In 1988 all Harley fans had reason to be happy – the new Harley Davidson E.Lectra Glide Sport looked exactly like the original Electra Glide from 1965.

Back then it already had two luggage cases, a large luggage rack and a transparent windscreen instead of bulky handlebar covers as standard. Rather, it was one of the classic touring motorcycles, and in the Harley range at the time it was actually the cheapest of all: 22,550 marks with standard, 235 marks more with metallic paintwork. The two-tone version cost 23,375 marks.
