Honda CMX 500 Rebel (2020)

Refurbished to be compatible with Euro 5

EICMA 2019

Honda has revised the popular entry-level bike CMX 500 Rebel for the 2020 model year. Chassis, drive and lighting were modified.

The Honda CMX 500 R.In the 2020 model year, ebel comes with revised suspension, full LED lighting, a new gear indicator, anti-hopping clutch and a more comfortable seat. Thanks to the new exhaust, it now also complies with the Euro 5 standard. It celebrates its premiere at the EICMA in Milan.

The new round headlight at the front has a diameter of 175 mm and is modern for the new model year with LED technology. The new, ultra-thin oval tail light and the license plate light have also been converted to LED technology. The LED upgrade is rounded off by new, round mini-LED indicators with a diameter of just 55 mm, and a circular position light is integrated in the front indicators.

The speedometer with LCD display in the compact 100 mm housing now illuminates its background in white. From model year 2020, the current gear and fuel consumption will also be displayed.

Euro 5 without loss of performance

The 471 cm³ parallel twin remained unchanged in its key data. This was supplemented by an anti-hopping clutch and a new exhaust gas sensor in the shotgun exhaust. Despite the Euro 5 adjustment, it still delivers 46 hp and 43.3 Nm.

Modified spring rates, less oil in the fork and an adapted damping of the stereo shock absorbers should optimize the chassis. A passenger seat that is easier to dismantle and easier to remove rear footrests should make solo conversion easier in the future.

For 2020, the range of accessories has also been expanded to include a new rear rack, a backrest, tank pads and a display glare protection. In addition to the leather bags, a nylon saddle bag is now also available. A Rebel version is also available, which comes with the following accessories ex works: headlight fairing with tinted glass, retro fork cover and bellows as well as a special seat in diamond look.

Honda has not yet announced prices or a market launch date. In addition to the color versions Graphite Black, Matte Axis Gray Metallic (in connection with the factory accessory kit) and Millennium Red, the Rebel will also be available in the new color variant Matte Jeans Blue Metallic.
