Updates for the motocross models

Honda is donating some updates to the two motocross models CRF 250 R and CRF 450 R. The road models CRF 250 L and CRF 250 Rally are also being offered in a new color.

The Honda CRF 250 R in particular can look forward to major updates in the 2019 model year. The 250cc chassis and engine have been thoroughly redesigned. The upgraded engine should now bring 4% more power. The peak performance is now reached at 12,000 rpm. The maximum torque could be increased by 8% and is now 10,000 rpm. The performance should also have been improved in the middle speed range. This is made possible by a revision of the cylinder head, the pistons and the inlet and outlet ports. In addition, new cam profiles were developed. The transmission and ignition electronics mapping have also been optimized. The frame and the swing arm were made from the C.RF 450 R from last model year. This has such a positive effect on driving stability. A clear difference should be noticeable, especially in faster corners. Last but not least, the rear brake was equipped with pads made of a new material, which should have a positive effect on braking performance and durability. Thanks to the new material, glass covers are no longer required.

CRF 450 R gets HSTC traction control

After major updates for the past model year, the CRF 450 will also receive minor improvements in the 2020 model year. It is the first motocross model from Honda to receive the so-called Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC traction control). The HSTC traction control, which can be adjusted and deactivated in three stages, is intended to maximize traction by minimizing the spinning of the rear wheel.

The two motocross models CRF 250 L and 450 L will receive some updates in the 2020 model year.

The system delays the ignition point and reduces the mixture injection quantity if the speed jumps exceed a defined value. Like the 250, the 450 has the new brake pads. Both models also receive some visual updates and new graphics.
