Patent shows e-bike at 125cc level

Japanese motorcycle maker Honda has patented a small electric motorcycle that is clearly aimed at the 125cc class.

D.he patent specification that has recently emerged on the Internet shows a completely finished motorcycle with an electric drive. The electric motor sits in a chassis that largely corresponds to that of the CB 125 R. The bodywork is also designed in the style of the Neo Sports Cafe racer. When the patent drawing is overlaid with a CB 125 R image, the similarities become apparent.

The heart of the electric motorcycle is the electric motor, which sits where the crankcase is otherwise. The drive is extremely compact, so that there is sufficient space above it for the energy store. The patent does not provide any further details. Since this patent already shows a finished model in a pretty concrete way, it could well be that the Honda development department is already using corresponding prototypes.

Conclusion

Soon no manufacturer will be able to ignore the electric motorcycle. The 125cc class is the ideal playground, as most of these models are used in urban environments anyway.
