35 years of the GoldWing European Federation – on the occasion of this anniversary, the Honda Gold Wing meeting 2018 took place in Slovenia from June 27th to July 1st. Our Croatia correspondent traveled to Velenje and looked around at the meeting.

Although the humidity on the weekend of the Honda Gold Wing meeting was reminiscent of the tropics, only a few sought refreshment in the idyllic lake next to the camp. In addition to the fact that the famous “Parade of Nations” began on Saturday, June 30th at 3 pm, there was also the round of 16 of the World Cup: France versus Argentina. Which in turn motivated many visitors to the Honda Gold Wing meeting to reserve a top seat in the local bar.
In fact, the French were at 84 Honda Gold wing – along with the Italians – the most strongly represented nation at this particular gathering. The number of visitors from Austria (48), Belgium (68), Holland (51), Poland (66) and Turkey (54) was also remarkable, as was that of the host country Slovenia (47).

Probably that was the reason why the Honda Gold Wing meeting was held in Slovenia in 2018, a country that has more than 10,000 caves. However, the visitors were more concerned with beautiful, winding mountain roads and landscapes. In the evening there was a varied entertainment program and music from live bands to enjoy.
In general, the organizers (GoldWing European Federation) are very satisfied with the attendance of the event: a total of 971 motorcycles were received from 34 different countries, 883 of which belong to the GWEF.
The guests from Moldova even took 2,300 km to Slovenia, but they say that the Honda Gold Wing was definitely worth it: “Of course, I will not be going back immediately, we are extending our vacation in Italy and Croatia”, says Timur, proud owner of a last generation white Honda Gold Wing.
