S.&S Cycle turns the series into a racing bike

The FTR 1200 was originally derived from the Flattracker, for the custom bike show Bike Shed S&S Cycles from the FTR again shaped a racing bike for the oval.

The I.ndian FTR 1200 emerged from the American 750cc racing motorcycle. Customizer S&For the Bike Shed custom bike show in London, S Cycle has again developed a flat-track racing motorcycle from the FTR 1200. Back to the roots.

Conversion for the racing oval

S.&S Cycle, which at the time also played a key role in the development of the racing FTR 750, initially stole the entire license plate holder from the Indian FTR 1200. Then a new 2-in-2 exhaust system was adapted to the two-cylinder. The seating position, the ground clearance and the suspension elements have also been modified.

The oil cooler and the voltage regulator have been relocated from their original position behind the front wheel for greater freedom from leaning. New triple clamp triple clamps make the fork stand two degrees steeper. Special inserts in the steering head bearing allow further adjustment of up to 8 mm. The standard fork was fine-tuned with a new cartridge, and a new Fox special shock absorber was installed at the rear for flat-track use. S shortened by a whopping 25 millimeters&S Cycles the rear swing arm. But because the rear wheel came suspiciously close to the tank under the seat, a new aluminum tank was also made.

The pilot sits behind a wider handlebar that is raised with risers. The position of the footrests has also been adapted for use on the flat track oval. A new rear frame with a new bench and a carbon hump round off the conversion of the seating position. Finally, the Hooligan was put on 19-inch wheels that were covered with Dunlop DT3 flat-track tires. The complete braking system and fenders are also omitted on the front wheel. The entire lighting system was also dismantled.

In total, the FTR 1200 was slimmed down by over 25 kilograms, the wheelbase was compressed from 1.57 to 1.48 meters. And the FTR 1200 Hooligan is serious about their flat track ambitions. During the run for the European championship at Wheels & Waves in Biarritz, she will take to the track for the first time under the pilots Lee ‘KP’ Kirkpatrick and Leah Tokelove.
