Jason Dupasquier, who started for the German PrustelGP team, crashed on Saturday at the end of qualifying in the Arabbiata 2 curve. A subsequent driver could no longer evade and ran over the Swiss. Dupasquier received medical care for 40 minutes at the scene of the accident and then flown to a clinic in Florence by rescue helicopter.

In the hospital, a multiple trauma was found, i.e. several injuries sustained at the same time, of which at least one, or a combination of several, is life-threatening. On Sunday, the MotoGP management had to announce the death of the Swiss. Despite the best efforts of the medical staff and everyone who looked after the 19-year-old Swiss national, the hospital has now announced with great regret that Jason Dupasquier has succumbed to his injuries.

“With the heaviest of hearts we announce the death of Jason Dupasquier”, wrote the team PrustelGP from the Saxon town of Callenberg on Facebook. “We are devastated and at this point all our thoughts are with Jason’s family. You will be sorely missed and never forgotten Jason.” The Swiss drove his second season in the motorcycle world championship. After five races he finished tenth with 27 points.
