In the event of a fall, the smart helmet from Kosmos Smart Helmets (KSH) should automatically activate the emergency call, and a headset and brake light are also integrated.

Over a Crowdfunding campaign Kosmos Smart Helmets (KSH) collected around 20,000 euros in the first financing round. This enables the company to produce 200 copies of the new Pegasus jet helmet in December 2020, which will receive the ECE.22.05 certificate. The helmets will then be available in April 2021.

The KSH Pegasus is equipped with an integrated brake light and side LEDs as well as a Bluetooth headset with voice control and fall detection. In the event of an emergency, the helmet can contact a relative or the emergency services directly and provide information about the location of the accident. The smart helmet can also simply use voice control to find the nearest petrol station, navigate to the desired destination or provide the weather data for the planned route.

The French startup has been developing the new smart helmet since 2017. In 2019 they presented their product at the CES in Las Vegas and now the helmet is going into production.

Financing and production in 5 stages

As soon as the 50,000 euro limit is cracked, special visors and another 300 helmets of the ECE.22.05 standard will be made possible. If the crowdfunding campaign reaches a total of 70,000 euros, the helmet manufacturer also offers helmets with DOT certification for the North American market. For the fourth stage, 120,000 euros are earmarked, then the production of another 500 helmets with ECE.22.05 certification would be possible. If the goal of 150,000 euros were achieved, KSH would like to focus on accessories such as integrated cameras, customizable foam and absorbent materials other than polystyrene. The fifth and final financing target is 500,000 euros, which would enable KSH to produce the full version of the smart helmet.

The helmet costs 590 euros and is available in matt black, pearl white and chrome. The cheek pads are available in different designs, the fabrics of which are processed in a sewing workshop in Alsace. The helmet models are called Deimos, Pegasus and Mercure and are all available by pre-order via the crowdfunding platform Kisskiss.
