IDM Superbike 1000
Reiti remains on the hunt for records

Markus Reiterberger used the long break between the IDM season opener at the Nurburgring and the next round in Zolder at the beginning of July for another outing in the endurance world championship. The Bavarian attacked on the Slovakiaring in the LRP Poland team and briefly broke the lap record.

After the previous mission motorcycle was no longer operational after the spectacular accident in Oschersleben in June, the LRP team built a completely new BMW until the last minute S 1000 RR on. At the end of the day, he still had to be content with fifth place in the Superbike class for the Endurance World Championship in Team LRP Poland.

During training, Reiti briefly set a new record on the ring on the BMW S 1000 RR, but half an hour later Niccolò Canepa on the GMT94 Yamaha was undercut by a tenth. Nevertheless: Reiti was on the move, even under the tropical temperatures. His Czech team mates Jaroslav Cerny and ex-IDM Superbiker Michal Filla also gave their best, but did not come close to the times of the current IDM Superbike 1000 leader in the race. That is why Reiterberger pulled the cable again in the last stint and, by the way, blew up the well-known Bolliger team from Switzerland that had been driving ahead by 4.5 seconds. The Bavarian was satisfied and the Polish team leaders even more so. It was the best endurance world championship result for LRP Poland so far. “It was clear to us that we wouldn’t fight for the podium, but we did a good job here,” said Reiterberger after crossing the finish line. “The guys are a very emotional team and you can feel the enthusiasm. We were able to drive a good race together and get a strong result with our possibilities. With the newly built bike, we had some teething problems that we got under control in good time. With the temperatures it was real hard work – in the pits and on the motorcycle. “
