The championship title in Germany’s highest motorcycle road racing series has been awarded. But in the slipstream of the victorious BMW star Markus Reiterberger, Lucy Glockner is getting better and better. The IDM Superbike 1000 rider from Kawasaki Schnock Team Motorex from Anrochte scored nine points in the International German Championship at the Lausitzring last weekend. And there was even more to be expected.
It was the highlight of the schedule. The IDM Superbike 1000 was held as part of the Superbike World Championship. Lucy Glockner was the only lady in the field who qualified for tenth place on the grid in the German top class and made up three positions in the first race. For seventh place there were nine points in the overall ranking.
The 27-year-old got off to a dream start in the second run. Before the first corner she had overtaken five opponents. And when turning in, Lucy was brilliantly on course. There seemed to be more going on. Seconds later the race was canceled with the red flag. It was because of Lucy Glockner.
The native Saxon did not overdo it, but fell victim to technology. At full speed the gear on the Kawasaki ZX-10R jumped out. Just as Lucy pulled the clutch, he jumped back in. The motorcycle jerked violently and Lucy Glockner was thrown off the machine in a high arc. She landed on her back. Because she could not breathe as a result and she had to be taken to the medical center, the race was stopped and restarted.
During this time the all clear was given: the medical examination did not reveal any serious injuries to Glockner. “The start was so brilliant”, the lady with the pink inserts on the leather suit was annoyed in retrospect. “That could have been a top 5 place in the end.”
The next chance to do this is from September 1st to 3rd, 2017 in the MotorsportArena Oschersleben. In the Magdeburger Borde, all IDM classes will be at the start again.
