Markus Reiterberger becomes IDM Superbike Champion 2017 with Pirelli
In the Superbike class of the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM), this year’s champion has already been determined: With an undisputed double victory at the Lausitzring, Pirelli driver Markus Reiterberger is unmatched in the front in the ranking of the highest national motorcycle racing class.

(Press release) After the race weekend in Lausitz on August 19 and 20, 2017, Markus Reiterberger has won the title again “in dry towels”.
The likeable driver of the VanZon Remeha team collected the maximum number of 50 championship points with two confident race wins and with his solid account of 245 points can no longer be overtaken by his fellow competitors in the two outstanding events of the racing series.
Like most of the starters in the IDM Superbike 1000 category, Reiterberger also relied on Diablo Superbike racing tires from Pirelli. With this success, the products of the Italian sports tire specialist and the personable Bavarian are increasingly becoming a real dream team, because Reiterberger was also on tires for his first two IDM titles in 2013 and 2015 Pirelli On the way.
“This season everything really worked out again”, said the newly crowned champion after winning the title. “The bike was perfectly prepared, the team did a great job and the Pirelli tires also played a part in the championship that should not be underestimated.”
The racing team of the traditional manufacturer was also happy after the double victory together with Reiterberger about his third IDM title: “Reiti won the title in the manner of a real champion. It’s a great achievement and we deserve congratulations from all of our team”, explains Bjorn Lohmann, Sales Manager Racing at Pirelli Motorcycle Tires. “This was the fifth title win for Pirelli in the IDM Superbikes in a row. That makes us a bit proud of course and is a great motivation to aim for the titles in the other IDM classes as well.”
