Grip, self-damping and bad weather performance – Metzelers Sportec M7 RR impressed with these properties. However: The tire is a few years old, which is why the successor Sportec M9 RR has now been presented. Its two-component mixture is divided into a hard section in the middle of the tread and softer zones in the shoulder area, whereby the silica content of the mixture has been increased in both areas. This should shorten the warm-up time and strengthen adhesion.

Reliably high grip straight away

Further changes? The tread design now extends up to an incline of around 30 degrees, after which the M9 RR becomes a slick, which should increase the contact surface in inclined positions by five percent. A harder tire structure should also improve stability.

The new Metzeler Sportec M9 RR was able to convince even in wet conditions.

You can feel this update immediately. During the test rides on the Ascari piste with an S 1000 RR and a Duke 790, both bikes fell effortlessly into a lean position and the grip was reliably high immediately after setting off. The high steering precision of the M9 RR was also convincing. There was nothing to complain about when accelerating out of the corner on the Duke, while the BMW made it clear that a lot of power tugs at the rubber. the Metzeler but remained easy to control, and also shone in the wet with a lot of feedback and good grip.
