Strong June with a chic plus

After the somewhat weaker May, new registrations for June show a solid increase of 6.7 percent. 20,119 motorized two-wheelers were newly registered.

The German motorcycle market had a strong June in terms of new registrations. 1,504 more motorized two-wheelers were given a sign and seal compared to June last year. The Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) recorded a total of 26,374 newly registered vehicles.

Over 20,000 new motorcycles

The lion’s share and thus a very positive sign are the motorcycles and light motorcycles division with 20,199 units. The light motorcycles, between 50 and 125 cubic meters, have to cope with a hefty drop of 6.5 percent or 331 units to 4,775. A strong plus of 10.5 percent or 1,458 more motorcycles compared to the same month last year more than make up for the dent in light motorcycles. In the end, 15,344 motorcycles were newly registered in June 2021.

Scooters continue to boom

What has been proven by statistics for years: scooters are booming. June went very well for the class with an increase of 6.4 percent. There was particularly strong demand for scooters over 125 cubic meters, which were able to complete a massive 11.4 percent or 219 units over June of the previous year with 2,133 units. The light scooters up to 125 cubic meters grew by only 4.0 percent or 158 units, but with 4,122 units they have a large portion of the June sales on the plate.

The top 20 motorcycles

For years, the top positions for motorcycles have also been about who takes the place behind the BMW R 1250 GS. In June these are the Kawasaki Z900 with 594 units and the Z650 with 491 units, both of which are well behind the BMW with 1,082 newly registered units.
