Powerful upgrade with the 850 V2

For the 2021 model year, Moto Guzzi is upgrading the V7 model series. The most striking change is the new 850 V2 with now 65 hp.

Uli Baumann

December 14, 2020

Moto Guzzi ran them for a good ten years V7 almost unchanged through the model range. Sometimes more features, sometimes more color. The around 50 hp 750 V2 was always retained.

More displacement means more power

For the 2021 model year, there is now an almost revolutionary revision. In the year of the brand’s 100th birthday, the V7 competes with the 850 V2 from the V85 TT. The power of the naked bike increases from 52 to 65 hp, the maximum torque increases from 60 to 73 Nm. The full power of 80 hp and 80 Nm as in the V85 TT was probably not given to the V7 after all. There is also a reduced performance variant for A2 drivers. An adjustable traction control is part of the standard equipment.

The steel double loop frame has reinforced cross struts in the area of the steering head, but remains otherwise unchanged. A new driver footrest position, a modified seat bench and longer rear stereo struts should make the seating arrangement more comfortable for taller drivers. From the V9, the V7 takes over the more powerful cardan drive and the wider rear tire, which is now available in size 150 / 70-17. At the front, the 100/90 tire remains on an 18-inch rim. The side covers and the rear silencers have been redrawn. In addition, the rear fender has been shortened a bit.

V7 as a special and as a stone

The Moto Guzzi V7 for the model year 2021 in the variants V7 Special and V7 Stone. The V7 Stone comes with a new digital cockpit, LED headlights and cast aluminum wheels. The V7 Special relies on a more classic look with spoked wheels, analog instruments and traditional round headlights. The new Moto Guzzi V7 models are expected to roll out to dealers in February.

The base price for the Moto Guzzi V7 Special, which will be available in dark blue and gray, costs 10,100 euros. Moto Guzzi estimates 9,100 euros for the V7 Stone, which is available in black, ice blue and orange.

Conclusion

Moto Guzzi upgrades the V7 with the larger V2 from the Enduro V85 TT. But she doesn’t get their performance. Guzzi is also economical with further upgrades.
