KTM grabs Remy Gardner
From 2022 in MotoGP at Tech3

KTM has secured the services of Remy Gardner as a driver for the MotoGP season 2022. The Australian then drives for the Tech3 team.

Gardner, the current leader in the Moto2 championship, will make his MotoGP debut next season. The 23-year-old now has a contract with him KTM signed. Gardner will compete for the Tech3 team on a factory KTM RC16.

Remy Gardner is following in the footsteps of his father Wayne Gardner, who became world champion in the 500cc class in 1985 and retired from the premier class of Grand Prix racing in 1992.

Promotion at KTM

Remy Gardner can look back on five podiums from six races and victory at the Mugello GP in the current Moto2 season. Gardner is a member of the KTM GP Academy and has moved up from Moto3 to Moto2, where he is currently under contract with the Red Bull KTM Ajo team.

Remy Gardner, who lives in Spain, made his GP debut in San Marino in 2014. He stood on the Moto2 podium for the first time at the Argentine Grand Prix in 2019. After his success in Mugello last weekend, he now holds two Moto2 winners’ trophies and leads the overall standings by six points.

It is not yet known who will have to leave the Tech3 team for Gardner. Danilo Petrucci and Iker Lecuona are currently driving for the satellite team. Miguel Oliveira and Brad Binder are already on the KTM factory team for 2022.

Conclusion

Almost 30 years after Wayne Gardner left the top motorcycle racing class, his son Remy Gardner is following in his footsteps. The Australian will be racing at KTM Tech3 in MotoGP from 2022.
