BMW R 1200 GS: Success Enduro with new qualities
Most large-volume motorcycles come from abroad. The two bestsellers come from BMW: For years, the place belongs to the sun of the BMW R 1200 GS, now followed by the R 1200 R.
The market for larger motorcycles and scooters over 125 CCM has grown by 3.7 percent last year to just under 127 100 units. Best-selling machine was also in 2011 the BMW R 1200 GS produced in Berlin with 6123 units, behind it follows the R 1200 R with 1903 vehicles.
Especially with the very large motorcycles with over 800 cubic centimeters (CCM) displacement, however, the foreign brands gave the sound. A total of 38 500 Big bikes came from abroad, as the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) has calculated. Every about a third was imported from the US (13,300 units) and from Japan (13 000). These include brands like Harley-Davidson or the big chopper, tourer and sports bikes of Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha. Other important importing countries were 2011 Italy (5100) and Great Britain (4600).

Overall, the Federal Corporation Office (KBA) counted 83 207 new bikes (without scooters), an increase of 3.74 percent compared to the previous year.
