Tour tip

This tour takes you to the lonely mountain region east of Monte Baldo and north of Verona. Behind the Adige is a wonderland that evades the tourist crowds on Lake Garda.

This tour leads around the Monte Bondone massif. Since we suggest it as a gourmet experience, it is more often interrupted by breaks for panoramic views and / or to take in cultural or culinary delicacies. The highlights are the skyward bends on the SP85. A distance (SP25) is even driven twice on two consecutive days, but this turns out to be a gain due to the special road character. In the last third, the tour continues from the Bondone massif through the Valle di Cei and Castellano back towards Lake Garda.

Road book

Start in Riva ➤ on SS45 up towards Arco, from there towards Drau and here on SP84 Direction Cavedine (right after the junction, wide, fast curves through an impressive stone landscape) ➤ through apple-growing areas down to Cavedine (at the village square you should definitely stop in “Bar Italia” – panini, espresso and a nice landlady!).

Then either return to Cavedine and from there to Lasino or down along the lake towards Pergolese and on Via Parti to the turn-off ➤ right to Castel Madruzzo and Lasino, turn off there SP85 (Well-developed, high-grip curves towards the Bondone massif) ➤ After a few kilometers, the botanical garden Giardino Botanico Alpino Viote with the well-frequented biker bar “Capanna Viote”, good for a long break on the little one SP25 Turn off (only a car-wide road, winds through forests, meadows and small villages to Carniga Terme, where we suggest an overnight stay in the Hotel Miramonti, www.hotelmiramontigarnigaterme.com).

Continue via Cimone, Covelo, Chiansa and Aldeno ➤ in the valley to the left on the SP90 Roughly towards Trento via Valle and Romagno ➤ Follow Via Stella, then Via del Ponte Ravina, to the right over the Adige, course on SS12 to the north, half left in Via Roberto Sanseverino, left again over the Adige into Via Brescia, half right on the SS85 to ➤ now on SP85 > Suggestion: stop at the Agriturismo Malga Candriai. Is a little off the beaten track SP85 in complete tranquility on the mountain ridge and offers a wonderful view and home-made food.

Summit storm: drive over Vaneze and Norge, at Vason Passhohe ➤ a few SP85-Kilometers later another branch to SP25 (We recommend taking this charming little road under your wheels again) to Cimone ➤ after the village junction SP20 Direction Valle di Cei, turn right and continue through Frizzi towards Castellano (road sometimes dangerously narrow!) ➤ behind Castellano SP88 and in the direction of Passo Bordala ➤ at the Passo motorcycle parking space, behind it the bar “La Baita” as a new break and enjoyment offer ➤ follow the road to Ronzo-Chienis (scenic cooperatives with extremely tasty regional products!) ➤ at the exit of Ronzo- Chienis right up SP48 ➤ over Santa Barbara through the woods down to Bolognano ➤ over SS240dir to Torbole or Riva.
