Tour tip

Hahntennjoch and Namloser Tal – classic candidates for top positions in the Tyrolean motorcycle route league. Not quite as prominent, but also great. Tannheimer Tal, Gaichtpass and three lakes for cool bathing fun.

  1. The starting point is the little-frequented Ammersattel on the German-Austrian border. On a beautiful, winding forest road to the water sports paradise Plansee, where a small motorcycle meeting point and kiosk invite you to pit-stop before you head to Reutte on the lakeside road that meanders along the lake.

  2. “Durststrecke ”from Reutte over the extremely congested Fernpass to Imst; on the way detour to Leermoos and Biberwier to the stage hotel “Goldener Lowe ”and later, shortly before the top of the pass, to the “Restaurant Zugspitzblick ”with its panoramic terrace.
  3. In Imst either turn right immediately to the Hahntennjoch – or enjoy urban flair in one of 150 photogenic umbrellas “covered ”Kramergasse; For more adrenaline rushes, the Alpine Coaster in Hoch-Imst or rafting through the Imster Gorge.
  4. From Imst over the Hahntennjoch to Elmen, right through the Lechtal and in Stanzach right again (the Abzwei is easy to miss) into the Namlos Valley to Berwang and Bichlbach: more driving fun is hardly possible!
  5. A second time through Reutte and from there back into the Lechtal until you turn right in Weibenbach to the Gaichtpass and into the Tannheimer Tal. After the Plansee at the beginning, two more bathing lakes, Haldensee and Vilsalpsee, promise refreshment before the tour ends at the Oberjoch Pass.
