Tour tip

Motorcycling in the Stubai Alps and their surroundings means surfing mostly in and out of valleys. Not a disadvantage, as could be proven on our discovery excursions.

We divide the tour into 2 daily stages. The starting point is always the nice base hotel “Happy Stubai” in Neder, a district of Neustift in the Stubai Valley. On the first day we undertake a valley tour in the Stubai Valley with recommended cable car and hiking trips on the Stubai Glacier and to the Elferspitze. The next day there are further valley excursions and a real round. For this we have to rob a nice, winding stretch through South Tyrol.

route: Day 1: 58 km; Day 2: 297 km / Travel time: Day 1: 4 hours with breaks; Day 2: 6 hours (without breaks)

  1. From the base hotel “Happy Stubai” it goes to Neustift on the first day. Follow the sign to Milders and turn into Franz-Senn-Strabe at the Spar supermarket. Follow this idyllic little road along the Oberbergbach for 18 kilometers to the Oberissalm.

  2. Back to Milders and on the B 183 with an impressive view of the Stubai Glacier towards Ranalt and on to the end of the Stubai Valley. From here it is worth taking the Stubai Glacier Railway to the mountain restaurant “Ice ridge” with a fantastic view of the Otztal Alps.

  3. Leave the Stubai Valley in the direction of Innsbruck on day 2. In Schonberg turn onto the old Brennerstrabe 182 towards Matrei / Brenner. Then the first valley excursion: Shortly before Steinach, it goes into Trinserstrasse. Follow this 13 kilometers to the mill village of Gschnitz.

  4. Back on the old Brennerstrabe, the next detour goes to the Schmirntal valley to the east. From Stafflach via St. Jodock 16 kilometers to Kasern. Here stop at the alpine inn “Barracks”.

  5. From now on, curve fun is the order of the day. Back over the Brenner, down to Sterzing and sweeping up on the Jaufen. Down and up behind St. Leonhard. This time on the Timmelsjoch. Departure to Solden, through the Otztal. Then Kuhtai, Sellrain, Axams and into the Stubai Valley.
