The Motorcycles Dortmund 2021 trade fair planned for the beginning of May 2021 has to be canceled due to current developments and current political decisions.

In the Corona year 2020, Motorrader Dortmund was one of the few motorcycle fairs that still took place: From March 5 to 8, around 70,000 visitors came to the five exhibition halls to inspect the stands and shows of around 400 exhibitors. 17 exhibitors had canceled their participation at the last minute because of the infection warnings at the time. Advantage: This made the aisles more airy and the special shows took place between the manufacturers’ stands.

New edition only in March 2022

In 2021 Motorcycles Dortmund should be in the Westfalenhallen from April 29th to May 2nd. The outside area should be enlarged, the corridors should be made wider and the tickets should be given subject to a daily maximum limit. All of this is now wasted. As the trade fair organizer announced, the currently announced lockdown does not allow reliable planning until at least the second half of April. Possible requirements for test and hygiene concepts and opening perspectives for public events are also not foreseeable. This means that it is no longer possible for everyone involved to organize a successful trade fair.

“Together with our partners from the two-wheeler industry, we are planning the Dortmund motorcycle fair on the first weekend in March 2022 in the usual setting in five exhibition halls and the spacious outdoor area”, explains trade fair spokesman Hans-Jurgen Weigt. With many new products, a stage and show program, club stands and service offers, the Dortmund trade fair should return to the attractive level of the times as early as 2022 “corona” tie in. Preparations start after Easter.

Online event instead of a classic trade fair – that’s the right way to go?

Yes, it’s timely.

No, I want to keep the classic mass.

Conclusion

Motorcycle trade fair organizers are currently not in good shape. Dortmund was able to pull through the 2020 edition, but moved the 2021 trade fair back as a precaution. But this late appointment cannot be kept now either. It will probably not continue until March 2022.
