You don’t park such a piece of jewelery in the sun, of course. The Vespa is painted in the design of Vettel’s Ferrari helmet – with a black, red and gold stripe.

Autopilots and their two-wheelers

Formula 1 drivers earn their money driving their cars, but what do they spend it on? Exactly, for motorcycles! You can see which models they have with us.

Dina Dervisevic

Invalid date

Well, not all Formula 1 drivers are motorcycle savvy. And those who are enthusiastic about motorized two-wheelers do not spend all their money on it – they probably simply earn too much for that (editor’s note: pure guesswork on our part). But it is noticeable how many professional autopilots are into fast and / or particularly unusual bikes.

Michael Schumacher, former Formula 1 driver and multiple world champion, not only enjoyed driving Harley-Davidson and scooters on Formula 1 tracks in his free time, but also tried his hand at racing motorcycles after his career ended. In March 2008 he competed on a Honda CBR 1000 RR for the Holzhauer Racing Promotion team at “Racing for Fun” at the Pannonia Ring. And promptly crossed the finish line as third of 27 starters. He also took part in a race in the “KTM Trophy”, finished fourth overall and started as a guest at the IDM.

Custom bike for Raikkonnen, MV for Lewis

Kimi Raikkonnen didn’t just order a custom bike from Walz Hardcore Cycles. All bikes are adorned with the words “Iceman”, Kimi’s nickname, because every now and then it seems a little unemotional (editor’s note: assumption on our part). Sebastian Vettel was also a customer of Walz Hardcore Cycles. He ordered his custom bike in Red Bull blue, with a bull on the tank and his start number on the fairing keel.

Lewis Hamilton is less focused on custom and instead falls for the Italian beauties. In his possession (at least): an MV Agusta F4 RR and a Ducati Monster 1200.

In our picture gallery you can find out what Sebastian Vettel still has his own besides the custom bike, which motorcycles Jenson Button, Daniel Ricciardo, Romain Grobjean and Felipe Massa are driving.

Walz Hardcore Cycles

For the sake of completeness, we would like to mention at this point that Walz Hardcore Cycles GmbH filed for bankruptcy at the end of December 2014 and is now history. Marcus Walz, the founder of this company, has nothing to do with Walz Hardcore Cycles since it was sold at the end of 2010. He successfully runs the WalzWerk GmbH company. We also explain the background to this in the picture gallery.
