Episode # 01 – Yamaha Tenere 700

Yamaha took its time, but the wait is over. The Yamaha Tenere 700 was one of the highlights of 2019. This is not only due to its heavy legacy, but also to its positioning. A travel enduro that exudes a lot of rally flair and is not characterized by electronic features, but by doing without and almost reducing it to the essentials. With a base price of less than 10,000 euros, it also makes a price statement. So was it worth the wait? How does the Yamaha fare compared to the more expensive and stronger competitors? How does she master the balancing act between road and terrain? We try to clarify these and other questions in conversation with test editor Stefan Kaschel and chief tester Karsten Schwers.

First of all: Stefan, whose heart has so far mainly been occupied by super athletes, is very impressed with the slim enduro. And another warning: when Karsten says about a gravel passage “Yes, it can be done for beginners”, then this statement should be treated with caution. You will also learn how the Tenere 700’s oil pan cracked while climbing the Col de Sommeiller.
