The Nishua NFX-2 Carbon is the only flip-up helmet from Louis’ own Nishua brand to date. How does he do in the first test??

The outer shell of the Nishua NFX-2 made of carbon promises high wearing comfort due to its low weight. And with the manufacturer’s specification of approx. 1,450 grams (Louis catalog) or approx. 1,580 grams (Louis website), it would actually be a lightweight among the flip-up helmets. Would. With a reweighed 1,750 grams (in L), the visually very appealing NFX-2 unfortunately cannot keep this promise. It’s a shame, because it doesn’t lack features with a sun visor, Pinlock visor and removable lining.
Quite loud from 100 km / h
Another plus: The folding mechanism can be opened with one hand, easily and reliably. When closing, it takes a bit of pressure to lock into place, but this remains absolutely within limits. The ratchet lock remains a matter of taste, but the (closable) chin and forehead ventilation is beyond its capabilities. Another point of criticism is the volume, which is quite massive from 100 km / h.

Conclusion
The Nishua NFX-2 Carbon made a mixed impression in the first test. The flip-up helmet is actually not lacking in features, but the helmet is not lightweight despite the carbon fiber material. The volume from 100 km / h is also a major point of criticism. Pity!
